In 2024 AB Impianti deployed Eplan Suite as the primary Computer-Aided Design (CAD) application to support its Electrical Plant Design function within the Integration Operations department at the Orzinuovi, Brescia site. The implementation is centered on in-house plant design activities and is used by a multidisciplinary design team of more than 25 engineers and designers who manage projects from initial organization and on-site surveys through to installation support and commissioning.
Eplan Suite is configured to support schematic and panel design workflows, panel layout development, cable routing and cable lists, and generation of bills of materials and technical documentation consistent with electrical plant engineering practice. The environment is used for integrated design supervision across disciplines, with designers working from Eplan Suite alongside Eplan P8 familiarity as an explicit skill requirement, and leveraging category-aligned capabilities for PLC logic referencing and layout-to-BOM traceability.
Operational integrations reflect the project lifecycle rather than backend system conversions, with design outputs from Eplan Suite exchanged with AutoCAD 2D drawings and Office documentation for site use and handover. Eplan Suite, using EPLAN P8 V2.9, was provisioned as the primary Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tool to produce electrical schematics and harness layouts for test bench projects.
