Rollout and governance were executed with support from IBM Systems Lab Services and IBM Business Partner LB2, who conducted a three month preparation period that included IBM AIX updates, migration script development and comprehensive testing. Live Partition Mobility preserved processor state, memory and attached virtual devices for many SAP instances, enabling a migration approach that minimized planned downtime and allowed the business to maintain availability during the cutover. The implementation delivered explicitly reported outcomes for the customer, including a 42 percent increase in compute resources, a 23 percent reduction in monthly compute costs, up to 19 percent faster SAP ERP response times and approximately 14 percent faster SAP HANA access times. Additional reported operational efficiencies included consolidation from three E880C servers into two E980 servers, reductions in energy consumption by 37 percent and license reductions across IBM AIX, IBM PowerVC and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications as part of the platform optimization. | |
