Nehlsen Germany | Utilities | 3000 | $300M | Germany | MTRIX | MTRIX | Single Sign-On (SSO) | 2022 | n/a |
In 2022, Nehlsen Germany implemented MTRIX as a Single Sign-On (SSO) solution. The project began in July 2022 and rollout completed in April 2024 across roughly 70 sites in Europe, securing Windows logins, Citrix access, VPN connections and FollowMe printers.
MTRIX was configured as a central identity and multi-factor authentication platform, delivering single sign-on, session authentication and FIDO2 token support. The deployment incorporated a redundant identity system topology to provide high availability and to satisfy ISO/IEC 27001 and German IT security law requirements. Functional capabilities implemented included MFA enforcement, FIDO2 token issuance, centralized authentication policies and printer authentication workflows for FollowMe printing.
Integrations were explicitly executed for Windows domain logins, Citrix session authentication, VPN authentication gateways and FollowMe printer release workflows, consolidating workstation, remote access and printing authentication under one control plane. Operational coverage spanned approximately 70 Nehlsen sites across Europe, centralizing access management into a single identity service. The scope primarily impacted IT security and end user access management processes, with configuration changes applied at authentication gateways and client access policies.
Governance and rollout followed a phased model from July 2022 to April 2024, standardizing authentication policy and MFA onboarding across sites and user cohorts. Outcomes reported include deployment of FIDO2 tokens, commissioning of the redundant MTRIX identity system to meet compliance obligations, and no reported authentication incidents after rollout.
