In 2024, Maine Community College System deployed OpenIAM as a centralized Identity and Access Management (IAM) solution in AWS to provide single sign-on across campus and administrative applications. The Burgundy Group served as the implementation partner and managed a rapid production launch that placed OpenIAM at the center of enterprise authentication and customer identity and access management workflows for the system in the United States.
The deployment emphasized SSO and CIAM modules within OpenIAM, including inferred Workday SSO integration patterns consistent with the implementation timeline and documented integrations. The program provisioned approximately 30 microservices to accelerate application integrations, standardize authentication flows, and reduce operational overhead across IT operations and application teams.
Integrations were executed with Anthology as an explicit target application, and Workday SSO integrations were implemented as part of the identity fabric to cover HR and student administration touchpoints. The microservices architecture was hosted in AWS, enabling elastic service endpoints for enterprise applications across the community college network and supporting rapid onboarding of additional SaaS and on premise systems.
Governance was centralized under the MCCS identity program, with OpenIAM driving identity lifecycle workflows, access delegation, and SSO policy enforcement across departments. The deployment narrative highlights accelerated integrations and reduced operational overhead as primary operational objectives achieved through the OpenIAM Identity and Access Management (IAM) implementation.
