Andritz Hydro | Manufacturing | 5782 | $1.7B | Austria | InnovMetric | PolyWorks Inspector | 3D Modeling,Computer-Aided Design (CAD),2D/3D Simulation | 2014 | n/a |
In 2014, Andritz Hydro implemented PolyWorks Inspector to support precision 3D metrology and in-situ quality control at its Ravensburg turbine production site, aligning the deployment to the 3D Modeling,Computer-Aided Design (CAD),2D/3D Simulation application category. The implementation targeted inspection workflows for extremely large and heavy Francis turbine components where access constraints and sub-millimeter accuracy were primary requirements.
PolyWorks Inspector was configured as the core alignment and analysis application, using its alignment features, flexible import/export options, reporting formats, and macro programmability to handle bespoke measurement sequences for non-serial turbine wheels. The project included training for measurement technicians and on site macro programming support provided by Duwe-3d AG, enabling operators to validate and correct data immediately and to reuse automated macros across distinct turbine projects.
The software was integrated tightly with tactile and tracking hardware, specifically a FaroArm tactile probe and a Faro laser tracker, forming a distributed measurement architecture where the arm can be re-registered in the tracker coordinate system. Andritz used two registration workflows supported by PolyWorks Inspector, either via overlapping points measurable from successive arm positions or by combining the tracker and arm and automatically registering the arm into the tracker coordinate system, which simplified device relocation in constrained spaces. Project capture and remote triggering workflows were enabled through the PolyWorks|Talisman mobile application, allowing technicians to trigger measurements from an iPod and retrieve project data for immediate validation.
Operational coverage focused on the Measurement and Testing Division and quality assurance, inspection, and repair of incoming goods at the Ravensburg plant, with the solution also supporting installation site measurements during turbine mounting. Process changes included standardized registration procedures for device relocation and the adoption of PolyWorks based reporting templates to address varying departmental data requirements. Documented outcomes from the deployment include the ability to perform measurements that previously required two technicians and up to one and a half days, now completed by a single technician in about two hours, and improved measurement precision and repeatability for critical turbine blade alignment.

Bobcat Company (Doosan Corporation Company) | Manufacturing | 3500 | $1.0B | United States | InnovMetric | PolyWorks Inspector | 3D Modeling,Computer-Aided Design (CAD),2D/3D Simulation | 2022 | n/a |
In 2022, Bobcat Company (Doosan Corporation Company) implemented PolyWorks Inspector in the 3D Modeling,Computer-Aided Design (CAD),2D/3D Simulation category to modernize shop-floor 3D gauging across Bobcat North America. The deployment paired PolyWorks|Inspector gauging functionality with PolyWorks|DataLoop to collect and share metrology data across inspection teams. The implementation targeted quality and inspection processes within Bobcat North America production lines.
PolyWorks Inspector was configured for shop-floor gauging, measurement program creation, and operator-level execution to accelerate setup of inspection routines. PolyWorks|DataLoop provided a centralized conduit for 3D measurement datasets, improving access and handoff between operators and engineers. Configuration work emphasized reusable measurement programs and consistent 3D data formats for inspection and engineering consumption.
Rollout and governance concentrated on quality and inspection functions rather than enterprise-wide system integration, with operational controls to grant engineers and operators access to metrology data. According to Bobcat, the deployment resulted in faster program creation and easier access to 3D measurement data for operators and engineers, boosting measurement efficiency and collaboration across teams.

Humanetics | Manufacturing | 1000 | $300M | United States | InnovMetric | PolyWorks Inspector | 3D Modeling,Computer-Aided Design (CAD),2D/3D Simulation | 2016 | n/a |
In 2016 Humanetics implemented PolyWorks Inspector to standardize metrology across its manufacturing footprint, deploying PolyWorks|Inspector alongside PolyWorks|Reviewer in a rollout focused on quality and metrology process areas within the 3D Modeling,Computer-Aided Design (CAD),2D/3D Simulation category. The deployment covered multiple United States facilities including Huron, Ohio and Farmington Hills, Michigan, establishing a consistent toolset for measurement and inspection workflows across sites.
The implementation configured core capabilities for CMM programming, inspection reporting, and 3D metrology workflows, centralizing routine measurement sequences and report templates. PolyWorks Inspector was used to standardize CMM programming and reporting practices, with the customer reporting CMM programming up to 76% faster as an explicit outcome of the standardized workflows.
Operational integration connected CMMs, portable arms, and 3D scanners into the PolyWorks|Inspector and PolyWorks|Reviewer environment to enable data sharing across devices and sites. The architecture emphasized device-level data capture feeding common metrology projects and consolidated reports, supporting cross-site visibility for quality engineers and metrology technicians.
Governance and process changes focused on harmonizing inspection procedures and reporting formats across quality and metrology teams, with rollout activities targeted at repeatable programming, shared reporting libraries, and standardized inspection plans. The program prioritized interoperability with existing measurement hardware and consistent procedural adoption across the named US facilities to improve manufacturing decision-making based on shared 3D metrology data.
