CMOC | Oil, Gas and Chemicals | 12317 | $29.7B | China | Resource Sustainable Technologies | ReSource Platform | Blockchain Platform | 2021 | n/a |
In 2021, CMOC participated in a pilot deployment of the ReSource Platform, a Blockchain Platform implemented to provide end to end cobalt traceability across the battery supply chain. The pilot was executed under the multi-company Re|Source group and tested data capture from cobalt production factories in the Democratic Republic of Congo through to electric vehicle production sites, reflecting a supply chain to product scope for provenance verification.
The ReSource Platform implementation emphasized provenance and traceability capabilities, greenhouse gas emissions tracking, and privacy preserving proofing using Zero-Knowledge Proofs. Functional workflows observed in the pilot included transaction level provenance records, audit trails to support responsible sourcing compliance, and mechanisms for downstream verification by manufacturers and other supply chain stakeholders.
Kryha acted as the technology partner building the solution on a private blockchain with a public mindset, integrating participant data flows across miners and downstream partners. The pilot connected CMOC data to the Re|Source multi-stakeholder framework and aligned outputs with industry responsible sourcing standards such as RMI, CIRAF, and ICMM, while engaging manufacturers including Umicore and an unnamed EV pioneer and battery company, and positioning the solution to interoperate conceptually with the Global Battery Alliance Battery Passport project.
Governance for the deployment was organized through the Re|Source group of miners and industry partners, with testing scheduled through December 2021 and a final solution expected to go live in 2022. The implementation focused on embedding traceability and compliance workflows into existing supply chain operations to enable customer level origin verification and to support wider industry responsible sourcing efforts.

Eurasian Resources Group | Oil, Gas and Chemicals | 70000 | $6.3B | Luxembourg | Resource Sustainable Technologies | ReSource Platform | Blockchain Platform | 2021 | n/a |
In 2021 Eurasian Resources Group piloted the ReSource Platform, a Blockchain Platform, as part of the multi-party Re|Source cobalt traceability initiative. Eurasian Resources Group deployed ReSource Platform, a Blockchain Platform, to instrument cobalt supply chain traceability and responsible sourcing compliance across mining and downstream operations. Testing in the pilot ran on the ground in cobalt production facilities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo through to electric vehicle production sites.
The ReSource Platform implementation captured immutable provenance records for individual cobalt units and incorporated greenhouse gas emissions tracking as a native capability. Privacy and confidentiality were addressed using Zero-Knowledge Proofs and a private blockchain with a public mindset, with Kryha identified as the technology partner and Resource Sustainable Technologies named as vendor supporting the deployment.
Operational coverage for the pilot spanned miners, downstream cathode producers such as Umicore, battery manufacturers and an unnamed EV manufacturer, aligning data capture across extractive and manufacturing nodes. The implementation was positioned to interoperate with broader industry initiatives, linking to the Global Battery Alliance Battery Passport project and mapping to responsible sourcing frameworks including RMI, CIRAF and ICMM.
Re|Source was founded by the participating miners in 2019, the pilot phase ran through 2021 with an expected conclusion in December, and a final solution was planned to go live in 2022. Governance of the program emphasized industry led stewardship by the miners, collective use of ESG standards and multi-stakeholder alignment to support artisanal and small scale mining engagement in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Glencore | Oil, Gas and Chemicals | 84146 | $230.9B | Switzerland | Resource Sustainable Technologies | ReSource Platform | Blockchain Platform | 2021 | n/a |
In 2021, Glencore piloted the ReSource Platform, a Blockchain Platform, to create traceable records for battery-grade cobalt supply chains. The pilot initiative united Glencore with Umicore, China Molybdenum Co and Eurasian Resources Group to test blockchain-based provenance and verification across mining and processing partners.
ReSource Platform was configured to capture provenance metadata, timestamped transaction records and asset-level traceability, using a shared ledger and consensus-based verification typical of a Blockchain Platform. Functional capabilities implemented included a digital provenance ledger, participant identity and role controls, and transaction verification workflows to maintain immutable supply chain records.
The deployment scope targeted cobalt supply lines originating in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, including artisanal mining activity around Kolwezi and Tilwizembe, and extended downstream to refiners and battery material suppliers and carmakers. The implementation was delivered with vendor Resource Sustainable Technologies and organized as a consortium network granting shared ledger access to miners, refiners and manufacturers.
Governance and process restructuring emphasized shared data governance among consortium participants, standardized provenance reporting and verification checkpoints to improve scrutiny of sourcing. The pilot phase ran through the end of 2021 and participants expected a broader roll out in 2022.
The stated objective of Glencore using the ReSource Platform was to improve scrutiny of cobalt sourcing and produce verifiable, auditable records to demonstrate sourcing does not rely on conflict minerals or child labour, leveraging the Blockchain Platform to provide immutable provenance across the cobalt value chain.
