Bin Ghalib Group of Companies | Manufacturing | 1000 | $180M | United Arab Emirates | Rockwell Automation | Rockwell FactoryTalk Historian | Data Historian | 2015 | n/a | In 2015, Bin Ghalib Group of Companies implemented Rockwell FactoryTalk Historian as its Data Historian to capture time series and event data across manufacturing control systems. The implementation was led from the Dubai UAE site by the Sr. Industrial Automation Engineer, who also standardized project management practices and reported directly to corporate management to align implementation governance with operational requirements. The deployment used Rockwell FactoryTalk Historian SE alongside Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View Studio for Site Edition and Machine Edition, FactoryTalk VantagePoint EMI and PlantPAX libraries to provide historian collection, trending, alarms and events logging. Configuration work included structured text coding for complex priority sequences and performance curve based pump operation, plus development of function block libraries with revision control to standardize PLC logic across teams. Architecturally the implementation integrated with Control Logix enhanced redundant systems and Compact Logix controllers, and leveraged Stratix 5700 Layer 2 switches to build a distributed SCADA network. Communications were configured over Profibus DPV1, Modbus RTU, EtherNet TCP/IP, ControlNET, CAN Bus and DeviceNET, with Device Level Ring network and REP configured to remove single point link failure. Redundant data server and redundant live data interface server were configured to prevent mission critical plant data loss, and MS SQL DB was used for data logging and Alarms and Events logging. Operational governance included formal technical documentation for operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of PLC and HMI systems, plus protocols, qualification documents, test plans and test reports for quality assurance. The rollout encompassed engineering, operations and maintenance functions, involved coordination with vendors for equipment procurement, and included mentoring of junior engineers to build sustaining support capability for Rockwell FactoryTalk Historian within the organization. | |

Utility Global | Oil, Gas and Chemicals | 70 | $15M | United States | Rockwell Automation | Rockwell FactoryTalk Historian | Data Historian | 2025 | n/a | In 2025, Utility Global deployed Rockwell FactoryTalk Historian as part of a Data Historian implementation to support its proprietary H2Gen hydrogen production control platform. The implementation underpins the Houston commercial unit that is being commissioned and is planned for extension into biogas applications in 2026, aligning with Utility’s modular H2Gen systems for hard-to-abate industries. Rockwell FactoryTalk Historian was provisioned as part of a Rockwell Automation control stack that includes PlantPAx Distributed Control System, FactoryTalk View, FactoryTalk AssetCentre, Logix Process Controllers and supporting network hardware. The configuration emphasizes time series data capture, event and alarm logging, historian-backed visualization and archival to support autonomous hydrogen production process control and commissioning workflows. Integrations are implemented between FactoryTalk Historian and the PlantPAx DCS and Logix Process Controllers for direct process data collection, while FactoryTalk View provides operator visualization and FactoryTalk AssetCentre handles configuration and change management governance. Operational scope focuses on plant operations, commissioning and control engineering for commercial deployments, with the solution intended to integrate into existing assets across steel, mobility, chemical, refining and oil and gas applications. Rollout and governance reflect a consistent control architecture strategy so projects can scale from small to large commercial deployments without requiring an architecture shift, enabling repeatable execution for modular H2Gen systems. The deployment narrative cites accelerated commercial deployment timelines and contributions to lower carbon emissions and reduced operational and capital costs for industrial hydrogen production. |
