Pilkington, part of the NSG Group | Manufacturing | 800 | $257M | United Kingdom | Infor | Infor Demand Planning | Demand Forecasting and Planning | 2007 | n/a | In 2007 Pilkington, part of the NSG Group, implemented Infor Demand Planning to support its global automotive glass replacement business. Pilkington Automotive Glass Replacement identified a need for business-specific demand-planning capabilities to increase revenue and improve customer experience, driven by a complex distribution model with multiple stock locations, expanded product ranges and high volumes of product change. Infor Demand Planning was configured to provide core Demand Forecasting and Planning capabilities including statistical forecasting, SKU-level demand aggregation, replenishment planning and inventory optimization aligned to service-level targets. The Infor Demand Planning application also enabled forecast management and exception-based workflows typical of demand planning deployments, supporting scenario comparison and a planning cadence suited to frequent product change. Deployment focused on Pilkington’s AGR business and its European Distribution Centre, embedding Infor Demand Planning into distribution and replenishment workflows to improve product availability. The implementation linked planning outputs to order fulfillment and stock position processes and was intended to operate across Pilkington’s global AGR network to harmonize SKU-level availability decisions. Pilkington reported running a very diligent implementation and expected Infor Demand Planning to reduce inventory held at the European Distribution Centre while improving responsiveness to customer requirements and boosting customer satisfaction. Operational impacts were concentrated in supply chain, distribution and customer service functions with planning governance adjusted to prioritize availability without increasing cost and inventory.

Quality Bicycle Products | Manufacturing | 800 | $300M | United States | Infor | Infor Demand Planning | Demand Forecasting and Planning | 2007 | n/a | In 2007, Quality Bicycle Products deployed Infor Demand Planning to complement its existing Infor ERP Sx.enterprise installation, extending an ERP investment that began in 2001. The project targeted the distributor supply chain and inventory planning function to support strong sales growth and high-volume fulfillment across a catalog that ships more than 70,000 line items per week. The Infor SCM Demand Planning implementation configured statistical forecasting, local market demand segmentation, and service-level inventory target-setting capabilities consistent with Demand Forecasting and Planning solutions. Infor Demand Planning was used to provide greater visibility of total demand and to enable forecasted demand and integrated inventory planning so buyers could focus purchases on market-driven requirements rather than historical purchases. The deployment integrated forecast outputs with Infor ERP Sx.enterprise to feed purchasing and replenishment workflows and align procurement with forecast signals. Operational scope encompassed inventory planning, procurement and distribution operations, with planning processes applied across the companys product range and distribution activities. Governance emphasis centered on embedding demand planning into buying decisions and establishing service level inventory targets managed by the inventory planning organization. The company reported improved forecast accuracy, higher product availability and reduced inventory as explicit outcomes of the Infor Demand Planning rollout.
