ABN AMRO Banking and Financial Services 22267 $10.4B Netherlands Hyland Hyland Nuxeo Content Management 2016 n/a In 2016 ABN AMRO implemented Hyland Nuxeo as a Content Management platform to harmonize multiple disconnected enterprise content management deployments and reduce information silos across its retail, private, and corporate banking operations. The deployment was driven by the bank’s need to manage large volumes of client onboarding documents, agreements, contracts, customer interactions, and records consistently across channels while supporting omni channel delivery and advanced mobile and internet banking services. Hyland Nuxeo was configured to serve as the central hub for document management and records management, with explicit use cases for hot records that require frequent access and active processing. The platform’s content services architecture was used to build a bespoke front end, enable internal indexing to establish a single source of truth, and support reuse and repurposing of content. The bank also moved away from a per user license model in favor of a more scalable approach to content access. Architecturally the implementation combined Hyland Nuxeo with Elasticsearch for federated search across hot, cold, and other repositories, a NoSQL repository for scaling hot records, and Hortonworks for cold archival storage. The solution was integrated via connectors to other core business applications and designed to manage content in place where assets already resided, enabling a federated information management topology rather than point to point file migrations. Infosys acted as the strategic technology partner supporting landscape definition and deployment. Governance and operational changes included harmonizing metadata structures and user interfaces across business units, embedding records management workflows into client onboarding processes, and staging a paced rollout to connect remaining information silos. Hyland Nuxeo is explicitly cited as supporting the bank’s GDPR compliance efforts and enabling improved customer experience, while the program planned to expand user coverage from about 10,000 current internal users toward an expected 24,000 and to manage an estimated one billion assets within the next one to three years.
