Morrison & Foerster | Professional Services | 1500 | $1.2B | United States | UKG | Ascentis HCM | Core HR | 2011 | n/a | In 2011, Morrison & Foerster implemented Ascentis HCM as a Core HR deployment to support firm payroll and HR processes. The implementation was scoped to address complex pay group requirements for a professional services workforce that included 1,700+ US non partner attorneys and staff, and it explicitly supported US based expatriates and local hires in Asia. Ascentis HCM was configured to deliver core employee record management and to act as the Core HR hub alongside targeted payroll and time systems. The deployment included configuration for multiple pay cycles and pay group handling consistent with attorney semi monthly payroll and staff bi weekly payroll. The Ascentis HCM deployment was aligned with category typical capabilities such as employee master data, pay group configuration, and payroll interface orchestration. The environment integrated Ascentis Payroll for payroll processing, WorkForce v. 9 for time and attendance processing, and Workday for HRIS, reflecting a multi system architecture. Payroll processing was operated by a centralized team of three, managing more than $250m in annual payroll across 24 semi monthly attorney cycles and 26 bi weekly staff cycles per year. Integration points focused on time capture to payroll flows, pay group segregation, and expatriate payroll handling across the US and Asia. Operational governance centered on a small centralized payroll operation responsible for cycle scheduling, exception processing, and system to system reconciliations. The implementation required pay cycle orchestration and process adjustments to coordinate semi monthly and bi weekly schedules, and to maintain synchronized employee data between Ascentis HCM and Workday. Change control and payroll cut off governance were established to manage reconciliations between Ascentis Payroll, WorkForce v. 9, and Workday. The resulting application footprint positioned Ascentis HCM as the Core HR element within a heterogeneous HR and payroll stack, with Ascentis Payroll, WorkForce v. 9, and Workday functioning as specialized processing systems. This multi product architecture emphasized integration of Ascentis HCM with targeted payroll and time solutions to support the firm business functions of payroll, time and attendance, and HR recordkeeping. | |
