BMW Manufacturing Thailand | Automotive | 500 | $100M | Thailand | MIC Customs | MIC Origin Calculation System (MIC OCS) | Global Trade Management | 2019 | n/a | In 2019, BMW Manufacturing Thailand implemented MIC Origin Calculation System (MIC OCS) to automate supplier declaration solicitation and preferential origin calculations across its Thai operations and the broader Asian supply chain. MIC Origin Calculation System was deployed as a Global Trade Management solution to centralize origin determination and manage preferential trade documentation for regional free trade agreements. The deployment implemented two explicit functional modules, supplier solicitation SCS and origin calculation CALC, with the supplier solicitation module going live in January 2019 and the origin calculation module going live in February 2019. Configuration focused on automating preferential origin calculations for ATIGA, ACFTA and AIFTA, and encoding local content rules into the CALC engine, while the SCS module automated solicitation workflows for supplier declarations. Operational coverage included customs compliance, trade operations and procurement workflows across BMW Manufacturing Thailand and extended upstream to the wider Asian supplier network. Governance changes centralized solicitation and origin-determination workflows, produced audit trails for traceability and compliance, and enabled automated FTA management and potential duty savings across BMW's Thai operations and regional supply chain. | |
