505 Southwestern Foods | Manufacturing | 200 | $30M | United States | Sage | Sage 100 (formerly MAS 90 & MAS 200) | ERP Financial | 2018 | n/a | In 2018, 505 Southwestern Foods implemented Sage 100 (formerly MAS 90 & MAS 200) as its core ERP Financial system to support manufacturing, warehouse and distribution operations. The rollout covered a 200 employee, United States based food manufacturing operation including four departments with 21 hour per day coverage, a 70,000 square foot production warehouse and inventory positions managed in the $3 to $5 million range, and explicitly supported just in time production and coordination across forward distribution centers. The Sage 100 ERP Financial deployment was configured to support inventory control, order processing, purchasing and core financials while also being used extensively for manufacturing analysis and production scheduling workflows. Configuration work emphasized inventory and warehouse transaction flows, finished goods pallet configuration rules for more than 35 SKUs, and data capture patterns to support material flow from raw material through finished goods. Integrations and facility automation were a central element, the implementation included ground zero deployment of a WMS system and facility integration, RFID labeling and scanner enablement, and use of SCAN CO alongside enterprise tools such as Access, Excel, WP2 and Tops Engineering for operational reporting and engineering change order tracking. Operational coverage explicitly included Warehouse, Manufacturing, OTR and Local drivers, coordination of product movement between internal facilities and management of safety stock at forward distribution centers. Governance and process work accompanied the technical implementation, with process mapping and gap assessments driving configuration choices, formal training programs to develop cradle to grave subject matter experts from entry level material handlers, and project management for layout design, rack surveys and storage system installations. The program also integrated engineering change order processes and safety program development, with DOT FMCSA compliance responsibilities maintained within operational governance. Stated operational outcomes included improved pallet stability and weight distribution for load out and shipping efficiency, maintained JIT production practices to avoid production interruption, and enhanced material flow visibility through the combined Sage 100 and WMS instrumentation. | |
