Our global team of 50 researchers has been studying the digital transformation initiatives being undertaken by 2 million + companies including technographic segmentation of 10 million ERP, EPM, CRM, HCM, Procurement, SCM, Treasury software purchases, aggregating massive amounts of data points that form the basis of our forecast assumptions and perhaps the rise and fall of certain vendors and their products on a quarterly basis.
Apps Run The World Buyer Insight and Technographics Customer Database has over 100 data fields that detail company usage of emerging technologies such as AI, Machine Learning, IoT, Blockchain, Autonomous Database, and different on-prem and cloud apps by function, customer size (employees, revenues), industry, country, implementation status, year deal won, partner involvement, Line of Business Key Stakeholders and key decision-makers contact details, including the systems being used by Fortune 1000 and Global 2000 companies.

Netfonds | Banking and Financial Services | 315 | $192M | Germany | Hitachi Vantara | Pentaho | Analytics and BI | 2017 | n/a | In 2017, Netfonds deployed Pentaho as its enterprise data integration and analytics platform within a Kubernetes environment. Netfonds operates as a broker pool serving investment brokers, financing specialists and insurance brokers, connecting 25 banks and 120 insurance companies and supporting 4,600 brokers, 11,000 external users and 400,000 end customers, with Pentaho positioned as the central Analytics and BI application for these business functions. The implementation uses a cloud native microservice architecture on Google Cloud with Kubernetes orchestration and Docker containers, and relies on MongoDB and MySQL as primary databases. Pentaho Data Integration is used for the data integration processes, and a dedicated Kubernetes Pentaho cluster is responsible for fetching, processing and archiving data from the connected bank and insurance systems. Functional capabilities implemented include ingestion and transformation of insurance contracts in XML, CSV and GDV formats, commission bookings from CSV, XLS, PDF and paper sources, and investment area processing such as inventory information, transaction information, commission bookings, securities master data and security prices. To address container constraints and stateless operation, Netfonds developed a custom Pentaho Scheduler that handles complete planning, execution and logging of Pentaho jobs, including startup of the Kubernetes container, job execution orchestration and cleanup of containers after successful completion, while enabling horizontal scaling by running multiple container instances. Operational governance emphasized collaboration between data managers and software developers during microservice design, and the architecture required service based communication via REST and JSON rather than direct database access. Netfonds documented a practical operational lesson that network throughput is the primary bottleneck in this microservice architecture, and concluded that with targeted custom plugins and scheduler integration, Pentaho runs as a high performance, scalable, fast and inexpensive solution for their Analytics and BI and data integration needs. | |
