Greater Baltimore Medical Center | Healthcare | 1100 | $350M | United States | Epic Systems | Epic Reporting Workbench | Analytics and BI | 2018 | n/a | In 2018 Greater Baltimore Medical Center implemented Epic Reporting Workbench as a central reporting capability within its Analytics and BI stack to support nursing administration and senior leadership reporting. The implementation was used by Nursing Administration Data Analysts to compile scheduled and ad hoc reports for the CNO, Nursing Directors, and Assistant Directors, and to coordinate project timelines and strategic reporting goals across clinical leadership. Epic Reporting Workbench was configured alongside Epic Clarity reporting to generate parameterized queries and scheduled data extracts, which were combined with tabular extracts in Microsoft Excel and prepared for visualization through Power Query Power BI and Tableau. Reporting activities included graphical and slide deck outputs, trend analysis across nursing units, and standard committee packet generation, leveraging both Reporting Workbench and Clarity Reports for transactional and analytic data needs. The reporting architecture integrated Epic Reporting Workbench and Clarity outputs with Lawson data feeds and Excel staging tables to correlate clinical activity with workforce and operational data. Operational coverage explicitly included Nursing Administration, Peri-Op leadership, Critical Care, Surgical Operations, Tissue Oversight, and related committees such as the Critical Care Committee, Directors of Nursing Committee, Peri-Op Leadership Committee, Nursing Leadership Committee, Peri-Op Procedure and Safety Committee, and Surgical Operations Committee. Governance and process workstreams were established by analytics staff who coordinated projects, set timelines, developed administrative policies and procedures for three clinical units, and designed value stream workflows to streamline meetings and decision cycles. Analysts presented findings and recommendations at committee meetings and maintained meeting minutes to support governance and follow up actions, embedding Epic Reporting Workbench outputs into clinical leadership workflows. | |
