McConnell Dowell Construction and Real Estate 3000 $1.4B Australia Frontier Software Frontier Software LD21 Learning and Development 2015 n/a In 2015 McConnell Dowell implemented Frontier Software LD21 to centralize its Learning and Development processes across Australia. The deployment focused on using Frontier Software LD21 as the primary system of record for course cataloguing, scheduling and e-learning enrollment for both corporate and project staff. Configuration work concentrated on standard Learning and Development capabilities, including a Professional Development Catalogue, a Training Schedule System, online corporate induction workflows, and e-learning content management. The project incorporated a structured Skills Matrix and competency categories that had been developed through consultation with managers and subject matter experts, and Frontier Software LD21 was configured to reflect those skill categories and course coding conventions. Operationally the implementation supported existing programs such as a three year Graduate Program that enabled graduates to attain a Certificate IV in Project Management, and the monthly PDP School sessions used to progress engineers through professional development requirements. The L&D team had previously defined coding conventions and course mappings for the company HRIS Chris21 Learning Management System module, and those taxonomy artifacts were applied to organize courses and training records during the Frontier Software LD21 setup. Governance and rollout combined central catalog administration with project-level training coordination, formalizing course coding, mandatory training identification and training schedule publication. The rollout included in-house development of multiple e-learning programs, two of which were fully designed internally, resulting in explicitly stated cost savings and shorter development timeframes for the company.
