Texas A&M University System Education 30000 $5.2B United States Nutanix Nutanix AHV Network Virtualisation 2012 n/a In 2012, Texas A&M University System deployed Nutanix AHV as a Network Virtualisation platform to host core datacenter workloads. The implementation centralized compute and virtualisation services to simplify operations across the U.S. system offices and explicitly targeted business functions including payroll, HR, and accounting. The deployment used Nutanix AHV with Prism for management, delivering hypervisor-level VM lifecycle and orchestration capabilities typical of this Network Virtualisation category. Nutanix AHV and Prism were configured to accelerate provisioning and reduce operational overhead, with documented production deployments able to complete in roughly 15 minutes. Operational coverage was systemwide across Texas A&M system offices in the United States, with production workload consolidation onto the Nutanix platform. The project focused on running enterprise administrative systems in a virtualised environment, moving payroll, HR, and accounting workloads onto Nutanix AHV to standardize operational processes. Governance and operational change centered on centralized management through Prism and simplified hypervisor administration across sites, reducing the need for separate hypervisor licensing. Reported outcomes from the case study include faster deployments to production and elimination of significant hypervisor licensing costs, while operational simplification reduced administrative complexity across the system.
