Centennial Coal Oil, Gas and Chemicals 1600 $610M Australia Hitachi Hitachi Ellipse EAM (formerly ABB Ability Ellipse EAM) Enterprise Asset Management 2004 n/a In 2004 Centennial Coal implemented Hitachi Ellipse EAM (formerly ABB Ability Ellipse EAM) as its Enterprise Asset Management solution to support maintenance, asset lifecycle and inventory management business functions. The deployment established Hitachi Ellipse EAM as the primary asset record, work order and spares control platform for Centennial Coal operations. The implementation encompassed all Ellipse modules consistent with enterprise asset management practice, including work order and planned maintenance, asset register and lifecycle management, spares and inventory control, shutdown and outage planning, and condition based maintenance workflows. Configuration work used Ellipse SmartExcel for bulk data tasks, Ellipse Event Framework for automated actions, and Ellipse RDL and CBL for reporting and batch processing, with screen personalisations implemented to align role based workflows. Architecturally the program leveraged Ellipse Connectors and the Ellipse Integration Platform with custom connector development and Ellipse Web Services to enable system-to-system data exchange. Technical integrations and automation were implemented using Groovy and Java extension points, UNIX and Perl scripting, and SQL based interfaces, while Jasper reporting and SmartExcel provided operational reporting and extract capabilities. The environment was deployed on site in a centralized application and database topology to support maintenance and engineering teams across Centennial Coal operational locations. Governance and delivery followed defined user requirement and functional design documentation, with formal USR and FDD artifacts used to capture business rules and personalisation needs. The rollout included technical consulting for Ellipse personalisations, connector updates, web services integration and ongoing application support and troubleshooting, reflecting sustained programmatic support for Ellipse EAM across asset intensive business functions.
