In 2013 the University of Pretoria implemented Questionmark Perception, part of Questionmark, to support computer based academic assessments under the Survey and Questionnaire category. The initial deployment focused on delivering secure, scalable assessment delivery across test centres on five campuses in South Africa, engaging both university IT teams and local system integrator Altron for technical implementation and local support.
Questionmark Perception was configured to provide secure delivery features and faculty reporting, with assessment authoring and timed delivery used to manage high stakes examinations. Reporting and analytics capabilities were deployed to give faculties, including Education, improved visibility into test completion and item level results, aligning Questionmark Perception functionality with academic assessment workflows.
Operational implementation centered on campus test centre workstation infrastructure and procedural integration with campus exam scheduling and invigilation processes. The project scope covered multiple faculties and campus sites, with Altron and university IT teams coordinating rollout, operational handover, and user training for test centre staff.
Governance and rollout were organized to scale exam delivery while maintaining exam security, with Questionmark Perception and its secure delivery features used to grow assessments to 179,162 by 2019. The University of Pretoria Questionmark implementation expanded assessment capacity and centralized faculty reporting for computer based testing across its campuses.
