Hobart Food Equipment | Manufacturing | 70 | $7M | Australia | Microsoft | Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations | ERP Financial | 2019 |
In 2019, Hobart Food Equipment launched a cloud migration project and implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, an ERP Financial application to modernize service and unify finance and operations. The initiative was positioned to address dispersed regional processes and field service gaps while centralizing data and user access across the organization.
The implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations established a cloud-first architecture with centralized data and single sign-on, complemented by Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Service and Dynamics 365 Field Service modules in later phases. Functional capabilities implemented include core financial management, supply chain and inventory visibility, field service scheduling and mobile work order execution, and Power BI reporting and dashboards for near-real-time operational insights. The program emphasized out-of-the-box configuration, phased rollout, and use of Field Service mobile and desktop apps for technicians to capture forms, photos, payments, and time entries at the point of service.
RSM served as the implementation partner for the Field Service and Customer Service expansion, integrating Microsoft Dynamics 365 components into Hobart Service operations. Operational coverage spanned dispatch centers and more than 1,500 factory-trained technicians across North America, consolidating previously disparate location processes and reducing dependence on multiple third-party tools. The IT organization moved from maintaining numerous complex interfaces to focusing on platform extensions and a planned customer web portal that surfaces invoices, service notes, contracts, and appointment booking.
Governance and rollout used a three-phase approach with onsite and remote training via Microsoft Teams, role-based security, and regionally aligned subject matter experts to drive adoption among service, dispatch, sales, and customer care teams. Outcomes called out in the implementation include improved role clarity and job satisfaction, higher technician productivity through mobile-enabled payments and digital forms, optimized dispatching with real-time inventory and routing visibility, consolidated reporting via Power BI, and fewer separate applications for field operations. Planned enhancements include a customer-facing web portal and expanded communications capabilities to deliver appointment messages and contractor visibility by the end of 2024.

Metro Waste Authority | Professional Services | 52 | $7M | United States | Pairsoft | PairSoft PaperSave AP Automation | AP Automation | 2015 |
In 2015, Metro Waste Authority deployed PairSoft PaperSave AP Automation to create an electronic accounts payable workflow and centralize invoice processing for its finance organization in Des Moines, Iowa. The deployment focused on AP and finance functions and aimed to provide a complete audit trail while reducing physical paper storage across the authority.
The implementation configured invoice capture, centralized document imaging, electronic routing and approval workflows, and audit logging within PairSoft PaperSave AP Automation. The configuration emphasized workflow orchestration and document retention capabilities typical of AP Automation, and the solution processed roughly 4,000 invoices within months of launch, demonstrating rapid invoice ingestion and processing throughput.
RSM, the authority's Dynamics GP partner, recommended and assisted with the implementation, and the deployment integrated with Microsoft Dynamics GP for invoice posting and financial synchronization. Governance and process changes centralized AP processing in the Des Moines finance operation and established digitized audit trails to support controls and records retention, with the explicitly stated outcomes of high initial invoice volume processing and greatly reduced paper storage.

Mizkan America | Consumer Packaged Goods | 1100 | $450M | United States | Microsoft | Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations | ERP Financial | 2021 |
In 2016, Mizkan America migrated from Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 on premise to Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations to centralize transactional finance and operational processes. Mizkan America implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations as an ERP Financial application to support Finance, Sales, Operations, Quality and Supply Chain business functions within its food and beverage manufacturing and distribution operations.
The implementation covered core Finance and Operations modules with extensions for supply chain management, manufacturing execution, production planning and quality management. Development work included customizations and extensions to Dynamics 365, creation of SSRS reports and Power BI dashboards, and construction of data migration tools and ETL processes to bring historical AX data into the D365 model. Configuration and code work followed documented specification and testing standards, with unit test plans and Agile development practices used during build cycles.
Integrations were scoped to leverage REST and SOAP frameworks and EDI services for trading partner communications, with SQL based integration patterns connecting multiple data sources including SQL Server and DB2 and flat file feeds. The program specified Azure DevOps for source control, build and release pipelines and automated deployment processes, and included ongoing administration and performance monitoring of the Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations platform and its integrations.
Governance emphasis was placed on full lifecycle delivery practices, including requirements gathering, written technical specifications, code reviews, test harnesses and go live and post implementation support. Support responsibilities encompassed Dynamics end user support, troubleshooting, and collaboration with third party providers to validate delivered integrations and reports. The narrative aligns Mizkan America, Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations and ERP Financial as the central platform supporting cross functional business processes.
