Bauhaus & Co | Retail | 3000 | $500M | Sweden | Adobe Systems | Adobe Commerce (ex Magento) | eCommerce | 2011 |
In 2011, Bauhaus & Co launched Adobe Commerce (ex Magento) as its first eCommerce online store, establishing BAUHAUS Sweden’s initial online retail channel with Vaimo as the implementation partner. The deployment served both B2C and B2B customer segments from the outset, and the storefront has since grown into one of Sweden’s top 10 eCommerce websites by revenue and was awarded e‑retailer of the year 2021 by Pricerunner.
The implementation of Adobe Commerce (ex Magento) includes distinct functional modules for B2B and B2C operations. The B2B customer portal is fully tailored and API session-based, enabling customers to authenticate via social security number and BankID, select their company context after login, and complete automated credit company checks during account registration. The B2C configuration emphasizes customer experience features such as automatic stock visibility tied to the closest store location, personalized back-in-stock notifications, on-site track and trace, and an advanced returns management workflow.
Architecturally the platform is modular and multibrand, with Vaimo delivering an independent logistics solution and a separate branded website for BAUHAUS’s Camargue bathroom furniture line. The project included a full migration path from Magento 1 to Magento Commerce 2, now known as Adobe Commerce, and relies on session-based APIs for B2B workflows, BankID authentication flows for identity verification, automated credit checks for onboarding, and integration points to multiple payment options including a BAUHAUS credit card.
Governance and rollout have been iterative and partner-driven, with Vaimo working continuously with Bauhaus & Co since 2011 to update functionality and expand capabilities for both B2B and B2C users. The platform upgrade and ongoing enhancements coincided with a commercial inflection point in 2018 when the online store first overtook physical stores in turnover, demonstrating the operational scale and strategic centrality of Adobe Commerce within Bauhaus & Co’s eCommerce operations.
