Oracle Legacy Oracle NetSuite ERP ERP Financial ERP Financial Management n/a 2016 2016
In 2016 23andMe implemented Oracle NetSuite ERP as its core ERP Financial application and completed a go live at the end of September 2016. The implementation was stabilized by a Senior Accounting Manager who built and led a four person finance accounting team, comprising two senior AP specialists and two senior GL accountants, and acted as system administrator for Oracle NetSuite ERP and Concur. Configuration emphasized core financial modules and controls within Oracle NetSuite ERP, including accounts payable workflows, general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliation processes, and a formalized month end accrual framework. The team implemented a hard month end close process and documented a BS recon process based on audit standards, and provided training and operational documentation to finance and other business functions on the Oracle NetSuite ERP platform. Integrations were addressed as part of stabilization work, the organization administered Concur alongside Oracle NetSuite ERP and established remediation for gaps between various systems interfaces. Operational scope centered on the finance organization in Mountain View, CA, with deliverables supporting monthly P&L and balance sheet flux analysis for upper management, preparation and review of quarterly board packages, and coordination of year end audit activities with E&Y. Governance changes included instituting month end accrual processes, streamlining AP to bring payables current, and formalizing reconciliations and training to sustain the Oracle NetSuite ERP environment. Explicit outcomes recorded during the rollout included stabilizing the implementation, reducing the month end close cycle from 30 days to 15 days, and advancing audit readiness through documented processes and year end coordination.

In 2016, 23andMe implemented Greenhouse ATS, deploying an Applicant Tracking System to standardize recruiting and support rapid headcount growth. The rollout was driven by the head of recruiting, Jen, and prioritized centralizing requisition publishing, candidate pipeline visibility, and interview coordination across recruiting and HR functions. Configuration focused on core Applicant Tracking System capabilities including requisition management, configurable candidate pipelines, structured interview scorecards, offer workflows, and automation of candidate status transitions and scheduling templates. In 2014, 23andMe implemented MicroStrategy ONE Analytics as its primary Analytics and BI platform. The initiative established a hybrid Oracle 12c and Redshift data warehouse architecture paired with a MicroStrategy based BI layer to support marketing and consumer insights, research disease communities, operations, finance, product and data science. The MicroStrategy ONE Analytics deployment includes a governed semantic layer, centralized enterprise reporting, and self service dashboards for business users. Functional capabilities emphasize ad hoc analytics, scheduled reporting, and analytical datasets organized by domain to serve consumer insights, cohort analysis for research disease communities, operational metrics for operations and finance, and exploratory analytics used by product and data science teams. Data movement and integration are organized around ETL and ELT pipelines that feed the hybrid Oracle 12c and Redshift warehouse, with MicroStrategy consuming curated data marts and analytical schemas. Operational coverage spans marketing, research, operations, finance, product and data science, with the BI layer providing a single access point for cross functional queries and standardized metrics. Governance is implemented through the MicroStrategy semantic layer and role based security to maintain consistent definitions and access controls across departments, accompanied by phased rollout and user enablement to onboard domain analysts. Data stewardship and cataloging are positioned to enforce dataset ownership and change control for analytics artifacts in the Analytics and BI environment.
