In 2014 Brown Brothers Harriman upgraded to Oracle PeopleSoft ERP 9.2 for ERP Financial operations, executing a targeted modernization of its core financial application stack. The initiative focused on consolidating financial processing and accounting workflows under PeopleSoft Financials to support corporate finance, investment servicing, and private banking accounting functions.
The deployment included a PeopleTools upgrade to 8.53 and a live cutover that completed successfully, with Accounts Payable, General Ledger, and Asset Management explicitly upgraded from 9.0 to 9.2. Oracle PeopleSoft ERP 9.2 configuration emphasized core financial workflows, transaction processing, chart of accounts structures, and fixed asset lifecycle capabilities aligned to the bank’s finance operations.
Brown Brothers Harriman operated Oracle PeopleSoft Financials on Oracle Database and Oracle Exalogic hardware, retaining the Oracle technology stack as the runtime and infrastructure platform. The architecture combined PeopleTools 8.53 with Oracle DB to support transactional throughput and batch reconciliation processes within the finance environment.
Beacon Services partnered with Brown Brothers Harriman on the upgrade, marking the third joint PeopleSoft project between the organizations and reflecting an established upgrade governance and delivery cadence. Cutover and rollout were executed as a coordinated live cutover across finance teams, with the joint BBH Beacon team completing the upgrade to PeopleSoft 9.2.

In 2014 Brown Brothers Harriman implemented Workday HCM as its Core HR system, replacing Oracle PeopleSoft HCM and consolidating core HR, payroll adjacent, and talent workflows for a 6000 person financial services firm. The deployment established Workday HCM as the primary system of record for HR, recruiting, and performance processes across the firm and became the platform for subsequent HRIS enhancements.
The implementation covered configuration and ongoing enhancement of Workday HCM modules including Recruiting, Performance Management, Absence Management, Time Tracking, and Benefits. The firm configured Interview Scheduling inside Workday HCM, redesigned Recruiting business processes to remove defects and inefficiencies, and implemented Business Processes and BP Security controls. Workday EIB processing was established for data load and integrations, with routine creation and scheduling of EIBs and email notifications and alert configuration to support operational workflows.
Integrations and operational coverage were coordinated with the internal Global HR team and external vendors and outside sources as needed, with the organization maintaining a functional SME capability for integration projects. A specific integration between Workday HCM and the Learning Management System Expertus was implemented, and the environment supported production support across all functional HR areas including Recruiting, Performance, Learning, Absence, Time Tracking, and Benefits.
Governance and release processes were formalized through test strategy and test script development, piloting, deployment planning, and communication managed by the Global HRIS team. Issue tracking and escalation ran through a ticketing system using JIRA, and the HRIS function acted as techno functional lead to coordinate configuration, testing, documentation, and ongoing production support for Workday HCM.
