In 2023, Alten implemented Unit4 Business World. The deployment designated Unit4 Business World as the enterprise ERP Financial platform supporting Alten's finance organization and professional services delivery operations.
The implementation concentrated on core financial management capabilities typical of ERP Financial systems, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets and project accounting, with configuration for multi entity consolidation and multi currency processing. Configuration work included automated financial close sequencing, configurable approval workflows and role based access controls to align system behavior with corporate finance controls and audit requirements.
Integration activity connected Unit4 Business World to timesheet and project delivery sources, HR and payroll interfaces, and operational reporting feeds so financial postings reflect project labor, billing and payroll events. The deployment used service based integration patterns and interface layers to support transactional posting and consolidated financial reporting across Alten business units.
Governance established a standardized chart of accounts, centralized month end close procedures and mapped approvals to finance roles, accompanied by staged rollout and finance user training. Process standardization focused on project accounting, billing cadence and approval governance to streamline financial operations within the professional services environment.

The implementation centered on delivering core model solutions, specifically Core HR, Core ITSM, and Core Facilities, using ServiceNow HR to enable automation, self service, and a data analytics approach. A ServiceNow Competency Center was structured inside the CIO organization to manage a multifunctional development and support team responsible for configuring platform capabilities, maintaining delivery quality, and operating the ServiceNow HR modules across business portfolios.
Operational integrations and coverage emphasized governance with Finance, HR, Business Management, and key user communities, and leveraged the IM IT landscape for ITSM data analytics to inform decision making. Rollout planning and platform adoption activities were scoped to be executed within all ALTEN companies, aligning ServiceNow HR capabilities with business functions such as HR case management, employee service portals, and IT service operations.
Governance and delivery practices were formalized through backlog prioritization, agile sprint planning, hierarchical management of an international team, and budget oversight for recurring and project related expenditures. The implementation mandated product strategy definition, stakeholder governance setup, and talent management including coaching and recruitment to sustain the Competency Center and ongoing ServiceNow HR operations.

Operational coverage was defined at the group level, with the Competency Center responsible for rollout governance, backlog prioritization, and agile sprint planning across internal technology teams and key user communities. The program relied on analytics from the IM IT landscape to inform ITSM data analysis and decision-making, and required coordination with Finance, HR, and Business Management stakeholders to validate requirements and acceptance criteria.
Governance and operating model changes were formalized through a CoE style ServiceNow Competency Center, including hierarchical management of an international multifunctional team, budget oversight for run and project activities, and supplier relationship oversight where applicable.
