In 2012, AoL implemented SAP Concur Expense to centralize Expense Management across its finance organization. The deployment centered on SAP Concur Expense as the primary platform for employee expense report submission and corporate card reconciliation.
Configuration work focused on expense report workflows, automated corporate card reconciliation, policy enforcement, approval routing, and audit trail capture within SAP Concur Expense. The implementation used standard Expense Management functional capabilities to standardize receipt capture, line item coding, and supervisory approvals, while configuring validation rules and exception handling to align with corporate expense policies.
Operational scope covered corporate cardholders and the finance organization in the United States, with users submitting expense reports and reconciling production credit card activity via Concur. The solution ingested card transaction feeds for reconciliation and provided exports to downstream finance and accounting systems for posting and ledger reconciliation.
Governance changes emphasized formalized approval workflows, centralized expense policy controls, and reconciliations tied to card activity, shifting expense submission and reconciliation processes into the SAP Concur Expense platform. The rollout documented audit trails and exception workflows to support compliance and month end expense close processes.

In 2015, AoL implemented MicroStrategy ONE Analytics as an Analytics and BI platform to centralize reporting for multiple internal business units. The deployment targeted reporting and dashboarding workflows used by publishers, sales, and finance teams, supporting monthly Business Statistics presentations and audit reporting needs.
MicroStrategy ONE Analytics was configured to automate recurring reports and to deliver interactive dashboards, with development focused on converting freeform SQL reports into governed MicroStrategy dossiers. Implementation activities included authoring and optimizing SQL queries, building MicroStrategy dashboards, and automating report distribution to internal stakeholders.
The project integrated with a central Vertica datawarehouse, with SQL modifications aimed at migrating existing freeform SQL reports into the Vertica environment. The solution pulled data from integrated data sources to feed MicroStrategy dashboards, and operational coverage included regular interactions with publishers and sales teams to validate metrics and support month end reporting.
Operational governance emphasized ticket-driven support and audit readiness, with a dedicated process for resolving business user tickets related to report automation and data pulls. Finance-facing reporting workflows were formalized through SQL-driven MicroStrategy reports to support internal and external audit activities, and monthly presentation routines provided an operational cadence for governance and stakeholder review.

In 2018, AoL implemented Exterro E-Discovery within its Governance, Risk and Compliance environment to manage legal hold, eDiscovery, and data privacy workflows. Exterro E-Discovery was positioned as the centralized platform to orchestrate hold issuance, evidence collection, and review management across litigation matters.
The implementation emphasized core modules consistent with eDiscovery platforms, including configurable legal hold workflows, custodian management, evidence processing and indexing, and review and tagging capabilities. AoL configured Exterro E-Discovery to allow customization of legal hold processes to match company requirements, enabling tailored notification and escalation flows and case-level review workflows.
Operational ownership centered in the corporate legal function, specifically litigation and enterprise eDiscovery legal services, with direct involvement from lead paralegal roles to govern hold issuance and review procedures. The deployment served an enterprise scale organization headquartered in the United States and centralized governance procedures to standardize hold policy enforcement and review workflow orchestration across legal and records teams.
User feedback captured in a validated G2 review dated Jun 23, 2015 highlighted that Exterro allowed customization to meet company needs, noting the product matched requirements without issues and citing the product as Exterro Fusion ROCKS. The same review noted requests for additional selective customization when placing people on hold and referenced product versions used at that time, indicating a need for ongoing configuration refinement as Exterro E-Discovery evolved.
