In 2012, Despar Italia implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 for ERP Financial. The program focused on consolidating core financial processes, controlling and enterprise reporting across the Italian retail business.
The SAP ERP ECC 6.0 implementation included configuration of SAP FI and CO capabilities to support accounting, cost controlling and month end workflows, and it was the platform for an invoice matching project that incorporated OCR scanning into accounts payable processes. The project also delivered an electronic invoice ERP adaptation to align invoicing with regulatory and business requirements, and it supported a monthly budget application and enterprise reporting layer using BI Publisher.
The ERP deployment was executed in parallel with a large scale ECM upgrade that migrated 22 million documents into the company document management lifecycle, and SAP ERP ECC 6.0 was operated alongside Oracle Retek RMS and IBMCM as part of the broader application landscape. Digital asset management on Adobe CQ5 and document management for active and passive invoice cycles were coordinated with the ERP financial scope to ensure document continuity and reporting consistency.
Governance and delivery were led by internal IT project managers and functional analysts in Controlling, Finance and Marketing, with program teams exceeding 20 people during the last phase of the migration and a 10 plus member team for electronic invoicing. The effort was overseen by a Digital Business Team that coordinated requirement engineering, application management and cross functional rollouts, and internal SAP FI-CO maintenance was part of the ongoing application management practice.

In 2013 Despar Italia implemented SAP HCM (HR) under the Core HR category. The deployment ran from May 2013 to January 2014 and targeted company wide workforce management for a retail population of about 6000 employees in Italy.
The implementation centered on SAP Time Management within SAP HCM (HR) and included configuration and deployment of a custom shift tool to manage retail shift patterns, time capture, and scheduling workflows. Workstreams focused on time evaluation, rostering logic, and integration of shift rules into Core HR processes to support standardized employee master data and time records.
Operational coverage extended across HR and store operations, applying the SAP HCM (HR) time management capabilities to store staff and distribution center scheduling across Italy. The implementation was executed inside the SAP application landscape to centralize time management and HR transactional processing.
Project governance featured a Project Management Officer role during the SAP Time Management rollout, associated with Reply, to coordinate configuration, testing, and deployment activities from May 2013 to January 2014. Governance emphasized centralized configuration of the custom shift tool and coordination between HR process owners and store operations for the go live.

| Blue Yonder | Legacy | JDA Space Planning | Retail Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2014 | 2014 |
In 2014 Despar Italia implemented JDA Space Planning in the Retail Management category to standardize space and category workflows for Despar supermarkets. The implementation decision was driven by Aspiag Service using the JDA Space and Category Management platforms to align assortment decisions with fast-moving consumer demand in a highly competitive retail market.
The deployment centered on functional modules for space management, category management, assortment planning, sales forecasting, stock cost control and shelf space monitoring, with planogramming and assortment optimization capabilities used to define in-store product placement. JDA Space Planning was configured to support localized assortment and promotional strategies, providing flexibility and customization to reflect store-level consumer preferences.
Operational coverage targeted Despar supermarkets and individual points of sale managed by Aspiag Service, placing emphasis on store-level merchandising workflows and custodian-centric shelf management. The architecture emphasized configurability and store-level orchestration rather than extensive enterprise integration, enabling point-of-sale specific assortment and replenishment decisions.
Governance shifted toward custodian-centric responsibilities, with localized merchandising ownership and processes for continuous shelf monitoring and assortment updates. With support from the JDA Space and Category Management solutions the program aimed to improve production efficiency, increase shelf profitability and raise customer satisfaction through better availability of high-demand products.
