| SAP | Legacy | SAP S/4 HANA | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2021 | 2021 |
In 2021, Audi implemented SAP S/4 HANA as an ERP Financial deployment to accelerate real-time finance and controlling processes across the company. The SAP S/4 HANA implementation is positioned to support financial accounting while being extended to simplify controlling, consolidation and data management, and to deliver modern SAP Fiori user experiences for mobile and intuitive access.
Implementation scope covered core finance and adjacent functions, with explicit configuration of SAP S/4 HANA for financial accounting and planned rollouts into controlling and consolidation. SAP Business Warehouse was migrated onto the SAP HANA database to provide analytics support for the ERP Financial environment, with a BW footprint reported at roughly 6 TB of analytic data running on a server with 12 TB of main memory.
The deployment architecture is an on-premises, IBM Power Systems based landscape, using IBM POWER9 processors across multiple server classes including Power System E980, E880, S824 and E850 in two data centers. The environment leverages SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications, IBM PowerVM virtualization, IBM PowerHA clusters for high availability, and features such as Live Partition Mobility to balance SAP workloads and maintain business continuity. Audi also integrates hybrid cloud connectivity using SAP Cloud Platform Connectivity and the cloud connector to support cloud-based SAP SuccessFactors for workforce management, while custom manufacturing management systems continue to run on IBM AIX with IBM WebSphere Application Server, IBM MQ and IBM Db2.
Governance and rollout were executed with IBM Services providing project management, quality assurance and ongoing managed services, and SVA supplying infrastructure as a service under a consolidated service contract. Audi consolidated SAP workloads onto POWER9 servers and more than 250 SAP instances and management systems run on the Power Systems platform, yielding outcomes reported by Audi such as a 66% reduction in physical servers for core SAP workloads, a 50% reduction in BW database size, and loading of operational data into the data warehouse up to 100 times faster. Audi SAP S/4 HANA ERP Financial supports finance and controlling functions companywide and is being scaled to provide shared SAP ERP services to other Volkswagen Group brands.

| Seldon | Legacy | Seldon Enterprise Platform | MLOps Platforms | AI Development | n/a | 2021 | 2021 |
In 2021, Audi deployed Seldon Enterprise Platform to productionize machine learning models used by automotive engineering and operations in Germany. The Seldon Enterprise Platform was adopted as an MLOps Platforms solution to centralize model serving and monitoring capabilities and to operationalize inference workloads across engineering and operations teams.
The implementation emphasized model serving and monitoring modules, inferred from Seldon's product focus and public customer listings. Audi configured containerized model servers with scalable inference endpoints orchestrated on Kubernetes to manage runtime load and support rolling model updates, and instrumented runtime telemetry for latency and error observability across production endpoints.
Operational scope focused on Audi’s engineering and operations organizations in Germany, supporting vehicle engineering validation workflows and operational analytics. The Seldon Enterprise Platform was used to manage production inference pipelines, standardize deployment artifacts, and formalize handoffs between data science and production teams, covering both real-time and batch inference paths.
Governance centered on model monitoring, version control, and alerting workflows to establish lifecycle controls and incident response for production models. Implementing Seldon Enterprise Platform improved the reliability and scalability of Audi’s inference pipelines while providing consistent model serving and observability across automotive engineering and operations.
