In 2018, Lufthansa Technik launched a pilot project in its Base Maintenance division using the Arago HIRO AI Platform to progress automation of maintenance, repair and overhaul workflows. The Arago HIRO AI Platform is deployed as an Artificial Intelligence Platform to orchestrate intelligent business process automation across MRO operations. Lufthansa Technik implemented Arago HIRO AI Platform as an Artificial Intelligence Platform to address MRO business functions in Base Maintenance.
Implementation concentrated on staged automation of repeatable maintenance workflows, emphasizing task classification, routing and exception handling typical of intelligent business process automation. Configuration work centered on HIRO's knowledge extraction, workflow orchestration and decision automation capabilities, with explicit preservation of human-in-the-loop approvals for critical maintenance decisions. The deployment approach prioritized modular automation components to allow iterative expansion of automated tasks within the Base Maintenance operational envelope.
The pilot integrated Arago's automation layer with AVIATAR, aligning HIRO-driven orchestration with AVIATAR's integrated software platform for aviation digital products and services. Governance and rollout were scoped to the Base Maintenance organization, with operational owners in maintenance and operations responsible for staged release, process validation and change management activities during the pilot.
