In 2020, AVR Duiven enhanced its IFS Ultimo EAM with consultancy support from MaxGrip to improve maintenance management at the Duiven waste to energy plant. AVR Duiven is a waste to energy facility that produces renewable energy and supplies 60,000 tons of CO2 to surrounding horticulture, and the initiative focused on optimizing the Enterprise Asset Management implementation to support uptime, availability, and budget substantiation.
The engagement concentrated on IFS Ultimo EAM configuration and preventive maintenance models, refining the PM strategy to add and improve PM plans which increased planning accuracy and execution flexibility. The IFS Ultimo EAM environment was cleaned up and standardized, with data cleansing to ensure key asset attributes such as throughput time, preferred contractors, materials, activities, and PID information are captured in the system. Work instructions and standardized processes were codified in Ultimo so execution is tracked and reported consistently.
Operational scope centered on the maintenance department and contracted service providers, aligning day to day execution with the EAM driven PM models and reporting requirements. The PM setup in IFS Ultimo EAM became the baseline for multi year budgeting, enabling the maintenance manager to substantiate costs and spread work to reduce peaks, and reporting from Ultimo supports proving compliancy to governmental guidelines.
Governance and ways of working were adjusted through role alignment and process standardization, reducing reliance on single employees or contractors and creating transparency across teams. MaxGrip provided a holistic consultant role, driving the configuration, data consistency, and process change that resulted in a more efficient maintenance team, increased transparency for compliance, and improved long term budgeting and predictability within the Enterprise Asset Management program.

In 2018, AVR Duiven implemented Ultimo EHS Incident Management across its Netherlands facilities to combine maintenance and HSE activities. The deployment positioned Ultimo EHS Incident Management as the central Incident Management solution for site-level incident capture, investigation tracking and maintenance-linked safety workflows.
Implementation included explicit use of HSE Incident Management, Shift Handover, Management of Change and Work Permit Management modules, configured to preserve integrated safety and maintenance processes. Configuration emphasized workflow automation for incident triage, standardized handover sequences, management of change approvals and permit issuance, supporting operational maintenance and HSE teams.
A cloud migration completed in 2025 preserved these integrated safety and maintenance processes and moved application hosting to a centralized cloud architecture, improving application management across multiple sites in the Netherlands. Governance changes focused on standardized incident workflows and centralized application administration while operational coverage remained across AVR Duiven sites, with Ultimo EHS Incident Management supporting both maintenance and HSE business functions.
