In 2010, BancABC Tanzania began provisioning Oracle Flexcube as its new core banking platform, initiating a multi-country rollout of Oracle FLEXCUBE Universal Banking Solution under the Core Banking category. The program targeted BancABC group operations across Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, Tanzania and Mozambique, with the first country go-live in Zimbabwe in January 2011 and the final rollout in Mozambique in November 2011, resulting in a live platform across all five countries.
The implementation consolidated retail and corporate banking operations onto Oracle FLEXCUBE Universal Banking Solution, bringing branch-focused retail systems under a single platform and standardising business processes. Functional scope included retail banking and corporate banking workflows, and the platform was used to support related services the bank offers, including asset management, stockbroking and treasury services, consistent with Core Banking functional terminology.
Deployment used a highly scalable, open architecture to enhance interoperability with third party systems, explicitly including the bank s retail branch application to provide a consolidated operational view across markets. Due to visa constraints in some countries, Oracle provisioned and implemented the solution through a secure VPN connection, with one consultant on site and the Technology Deployment Management Services team operating from South Africa, demonstrating a remotely executed infrastructure and delivery model.
Governance and operational consolidation focused on centralised banking operations and standardised processes to enable faster product introductions and lower maintenance cost objectives stated by the bank. Oracle FLEXCUBE Universal Banking Solution enabled BancABC to unify operations across its markets, improve visibility of multi-country operations, and better service customers through a single Core Banking platform.
