In 2018, Blackboard implemented Oracle Cloud ERP to centralize its finance organization and standardize transactional accounting. The deployment targeted ERP Financial capabilities to consolidate core finance processes under a single cloud platform.
The implementation led by a Finance Lead covered General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Cash Management, and Tax modules in Oracle Cloud ERP. Configuration work focused on chart of accounts design, accounting rules and posting flows, period close orchestration, intercompany accounting controls, asset capitalization and depreciation schedules, and tax determination workflows consistent with ERP Financial functional patterns. Automated posting and close sequencing were configured to support invoice-to-pay and order-to-cash process consistency across the finance domain.
Operational scope was centered on the finance function with the Finance Lead owning module configuration, testing, cutover coordination, and ongoing governance. Change control for accounting policies, role-based access controls for finance users, and structured configuration governance were instituted to align operational workflows to Oracle Cloud ERP. The engagement signal reflects Blackboard’s adoption of Oracle Cloud ERP and the Finance Lead role to institutionalize core ERP Financial processes.
