SAP Legacy SAP Concur Expense Expense Management ERP Financial Management n/a 2013 2013
In 2013, Blue Cross Blue Shields of Alabama implemented SAP Concur Expense to centralize Expense Management across its finance and travel operations. The deployment targeted enterprise expense controls and spend visibility for a mid sized nonprofit payer, aligning expense policy enforcement with corporate reporting requirements. SAP Concur Expense was configured to deliver core Expense Management capabilities including expense capture and receipt imaging, automated approval workflows, corporate card reconciliation, policy rule enforcement, and standardized expense reporting. The implementation included configuration of approval hierarchies, automated expense audit rules, and reporting templates to support period close and accounts payable reconciliation. The Concur deployment was integrated with a heterogeneous application landscape that included AXIOM and BOL for business processing, GEMS for system data feeds, Crystal for formatted reporting, and Lotus Notes for messaging and approval notifications. Standard office productivity integrations were used to export reports and supporting documents to MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, and Access for ad hoc analysis and executive reporting, and data exchange was established with existing financial posting and AP reconciliation processes. Governance changes focused on centralizing expense policy, formalizing approval workflows, and creating operational procedures for receipt capture and exception handling. Rollout emphasized configuration driven controls and report based oversight to mesh SAP Concur Expense with existing finance operations and reporting toolchains.
