In 2016, Booking.com implemented SAP S/4 HANA Finance as the core ERP Financial platform for its finance organization, aiming to drive speed, scalability, and new working patterns for finance teams. The deployment centralized financial data onto the SAP S/4 HANA in-memory database, enabling real-time data access and analytics across accounting and reporting processes.
Configuration and functional scope focused on finance function modernization, with SAP S/4 HANA Finance used to consolidate transactional finance records, support real-time ledgers, and enable advanced analytics workflows. Venkat and his team instrumented the platform to support analytics and machine learning experiments, surfacing predictive signals and risk indicators directly from the finance data model.
Technical consolidation included migrating datasets from several sources into the new database, unifying distributed financial datasets for analysis and reporting. Those migrated datasets were used to feed analytics and machine learning models, providing actionable insights to finance users at the point of decision, and improving the organizations visibility into financial risk.
Governance and process changes accompanied the implementation, shifting reporting and decision workflows toward data-driven consumption within the finance organization. SAP S/4 HANA Finance served as the single ERP Financial system for finance operations, enabling a move to analytics-led finance processes and timely, operational insight delivery.

The deployment targeted global Talent Acquisition teams and recruitment operations, with operational ownership documented through a central project lead and a designated Recruitment Support Specialist handling day to day system support and user onboarding.
The Greenhouse ATS implementation centered on core Applicant Tracking System capabilities, including candidate lifecycle management, requisition and interview scheduling workflows, offer tracking, and recruiting analytics and reporting. Configuration efforts emphasized role-based access, interview orchestration, and built training curricula so recruiters and hiring managers could adopt standardized hiring processes and maintain compliance when collecting sensitive candidate information.
Operational integrations and tooling coordination were an explicit part of the rollout, with Greenhouse ATS integrated and coordinated with online assessment providers Harver and HackerRank to orchestrate candidate testing, and operational linkage with Workday to manage candidate and stakeholder data flows. Support and issue triage were formalized through Jira and Zendesk ticketing channels, enabling the Recruitment Support Specialist to act as the system SME and liaison between assessment vendors, recruiters, and HR Operations.
Governance and process change accompanied the technical implementation, with centralized Talent Acquisition governance, SME escalation paths, and formal training and documentation created for new hires and existing recruiters. Project leadership planned and executed the global software efficiency project end to end, providing stakeholder communication, risk mitigation advising to senior management, and ongoing process improvement driven by helpdesk feedback and recruiter input.
Booking.com Greenhouse ATS Applicant Tracking System was positioned as the operational backbone for recruiting activities, combining candidate tracking, assessment orchestration, and helpdesk supported governance to create repeatable recruiting workflows across regions and teams.
