In 2016, Briscoe Group implemented Magenta POS. The Magenta POS deployment was instituted as the enterprise retail platform under the Point Of Sale category and was rolled out to Briscoe Group stores and corporate offices across New Zealand.
The implementation focused on core point of sale capabilities typical for the category, including transaction processing, inventory control, pricing and promotions, receipt printing, offline transaction queuing, and back office reporting and synchronization for sales and stock. Magenta POS was operated on a mixed Windows environment with both physical and virtual Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2016 hosts, and Windows 7 and Windows 10 client devices, with backup processes to safeguard system data.
Operational integrations and support were aligned with existing enterprise systems and infrastructure explicitly referenced by Briscoe Group operations. The Magenta POS environment interfaced with SAP for financial and inventory reconciliation, leveraged Windows Active Directory for user authentication, and coexisted with Microsoft Exchange for communications. Day to day governance and support responsibilities included remote and on site technical support across New Zealand stores and offices, coordination with third party vendors to complete service requests and projects, administration of the Unify phone system, and oversight of backups and server maintenance.
