SAP Legacy SAP ERP ECC 6.0 ERP Financial ERP n/a 2014 2014
In 2014, Brookshire Grocery implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as an ERP Financial platform. The program concentrated on integrating retail point of sale and distribution workflows into ECC using SAP XI and PI middleware, aligning financial posting processes with scan based trading and vendor invoice workflows. Functional scope emphasized material and production data flows, including material master and BOM synchronization, work in process visibility, and transfer of production orders into xMII. Quality inspection interfaces were developed to surface blocked stock, rework and rejection states so available production quantities could be reflected. Financial workflows included mechanisms to post vendor invoices and scan based rebates into ECC 6.0 via BAPI and proxy based processes, and transportation subrange master data and F&R updates supported replenishment and planning. The technical architecture centered on SAP PI 7.0 and XI 3.0 adapters as the messaging hub, employing IDoc adapters for outbound deliveries and production order transfers, RFC adapters for BAPI and master data exchange, and HTTP, file and FTP adapters for inbound POS and non SAP WMS interfaces. Open hub technology and ABAP Proxy were used to transfer scan based trading and rebate data from BI 7.0 into SAP ERP ECC 6.0. Interfaces spanned IS Retail POSDM, BI, SCM, xMII, ECC 6.0 and external B2B systems including Rivoli Demandtec and an external BSP system for goods receipts, with a mix of near real time IDoc/RFC flows and weekly delta loads. Governance and operational controls were interface centric, with detailed error logging, reprocessing queues and scheduled delta loads to manage synchronization. Message mapping and BADIs were modified to support POS ingest, using /POSDW/BAPIINPUT_PRE to populate custom POS fields and /POSDW/BAPI/_POSTRCREATE to post POS retail transactions, while /POSDW/COMPRESSION handled POS aggregation before distribution to BI and ECC. Restriction profile exchanges into SCM used RFC BAPI calls to ECC 6.0 and ABAP proxies generated by XI adapters extracted pricing, cost and product data for downstream systems. Operational coverage included store level POS, distribution and warehouse management, transportation planning and production systems, with SAP ERP ECC 6.0 serving as the central financial posting and master data authority. The SAP ERP ECC 6.0 implementation established an interface driven backbone for retail pricing, vendor invoice posting and scan based trading across Brookshire Grocery s application landscape, prioritizing message orchestration and data integrity between ECC and external retail and supply chain systems.
