Burra Foods is an Australian dairy ingredient processor that for over two decades has been producing and marketing value-added dairy products to the global food manufacturing market. Specializing in creating products that deliver the functional and sensory characteristics of fresh milk, we have significant international market experience and a reputation for being a reliable supplier of high-quality dairy products.
Scope and Challenges
The Group began its digital transformation in 2017 with the implementation of SAP S/4HANA and continued the process with the implementation of SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central in 2018 for 187 users across the globe.
The implementation process of SAP SuccessFactors was quick and seamless, allowing Brad Cowling, General Manager for People and Culture at Burra Foods Australia, and the team to hit the ground running. From the commencement of the implementation process of the first module (Employee Central) to final go-live, this was all achieved in a period of 6-8 weeks. Immediate benefits were seen with 98% of staff taking up the HCM Cloud solution in the first week.
Burra has significant international market experience and a reputation for being a reliable supplier of high-quality dairy products. To support them in their expanding international presence, Burra Foods selected SAP SuccessFactors to transition what it was a 100% manual HR function to a strategic part of the business. Moving away from paper-based processes and improving efficiencies was high on the agenda. SAP SuccessFactors will save Burra Foods’ HR Department and Manager 4,500 man-hours per year – the equivalent of 2.5 team members!
Outcome and Implications
Burra Foods is improving the employee experience and boosting engagement levels were at the heart of this transformation. Empowering employees to access their HR systems from anywhere, at any time was a priority for Brad. By supplying the workforce with the mobile capabilities they have become accustomed to expect as consumers, the result was higher workforce engagement and improved efficiency for both employees and the HR team.
