In 2010, BWX Technologies implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as its ERP Financial platform to centralize core finance functions. The SAP ERP ECC 6.0 deployment leveraged SAP NetWeaver 7 and Business Intelligence 7 components and was structured as a global-local SAP landscape with five SAP instances to separate regional and shared services workloads.
The implementation focused on ERP Financial capabilities, configured to support core financial management workflows such as general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial close orchestration, and BI reporting, consistent with standard ERP Financial deployments. An earlier upgrade to SAP ECC 6 and NetWeaver 7 was completed in late 2007, which informed architecture and stabilization activities for the 2010 program.
Operational delivery was organized through a centralized center of excellence and a shared services support team of 34 staff distributed across Ohio, Virginia, and Tennessee, supporting approximately 2700 users at five sites. Project governance included a formal PMO, development of work instructions, mission vision and charter documentation, offsite strategic planning sessions, and active engagement with multiple system integrator organizations through Statements of Work and managed delivery relationships.
Financial governance for the program included management of an annual SAP project and support budget in the range of 5 million to 10 million dollars, recruitment of experienced management and support personnel to the COE, and documented stakeholder engagement with plant managers and local business unit owners to align operational processes with the SAP ERP ECC 6.0 ERP Financial system.

In 2016 BWX Technologies implemented SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central as its Core HR solution. The program ran from February 2016 to April 2016 and focused on the Lynchburg, Virginia site within the company’s broader HR transformation efforts.
The implementation concentrated on onboarding SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central as the central employee master, configuration of organizational data, and establishing replication to payroll. Workstreams included employee master data modeling, organizational management configuration, and payroll replication setup to ensure alignment with existing payroll processing requirements.
Integration activity centered on EC to SAP Payroll replication, with end to end replication testing explicitly referenced as part of the scope. The project documented interfaces between Employee Central and SAP HCM (HR) payroll components, and testing cycles involved both local and offshore teams to validate data fidelity and transaction continuity.
Presence of IT participated as the implementation partner and project staffing included roles providing pre-sales solution architecture support, leadership of Employee Central workshops, offshore team coordination, and targeted EC to SAP-PY replication testing efforts. Project governance emphasized workshop-driven design reviews and structured replication testing to operationalize Core HR as the authoritative employee record.
