Governance and process changes established a product owner for business process, a clear RACI between IT, business, field operations support and sustain teams, and process infrastructure for managing defects and enhancements. In 2019 Cardinal Health implemented Cognizant TriZetto Facets as its Core Admin Processing System for payer-facing claims and benefits operations based in Dublin, Ohio. The deployment centered on stabilizing claims adjudication, benefits configuration, EDI processing, and HIPAA compliant workflows across payer administration functions.
Configuration and testing workstreams covered claims and benefits setup, load and extraction programs, inbound and outbound interfaces and extensions, and reports development. Functional validation explicitly included HIPAA transaction sets 837, 835, 270/271, and 834, ICD-9 and ICD-10 code validation, claim adjustment and payment remittance flows, and end-to-end Medicaid claims processing scenarios.
Integrations and day-to-day operations incorporated EDI transmission management, reject tracking, reconciliation, and daily EDI reconciliation reports documented in MS Excel. The implementation used SQL-driven analysis of files and reports, aligned provider system processes and workflows, included interoperability testing with NextGen EPM, and encompassed ownership of Facets EDI 834 and architecting integrated HIPAA and Medicare solutions. The project also managed transition activities for Track Wise support.
Governance and delivery spanned full SDLC engagement with business users, product owners, project managers, solution architects, technical teams, QA, DevOps, deployment and maintenance teams, and scrum teams. Artifacts and controls produced during the engagement included business process diagrams, activity and sequence diagrams, a Business Glossary, Requirements Traceability Matrix in MS Excel, JAD sessions, GAP analysis for HIPAA compliance, and cost benefit and feasibility analyses to converge on a flexible, scalable, performance-oriented architecture with sustainable cost of ownership.
