In 2020, Cigna Healthcare implemented Oracle Financials Accounting Hub. Oracle Financials Accounting Hub was deployed as an ERP Financial solution to centralize accounting journalization and Create Accounting processes for the companys finance and accounting functions.
The implementation focused on end-to-end functional configuration of Oracle Financials Accounting Hub, defining Journal Line Types, Journal Entry Definitions, Mapping Sets, Accounting Derivation Rules, Journal Line Definitions, Accounting Attribute Definitions and SLAM constructs to meet custom application requirements. The team developed tables, views and PL/SQL packages to validate and process existing source data into Oracle Financials Accounting Hub and to create journals in Oracle XLA.
Integration work included interfaces to process flat files into Oracle Financials Accounting Hub and to account them to the General Ledger using standard Create Accounting APIs. Developers built concurrent-program driven interfaces to populate FAH transactional header and line views based on lookup logic, and modified the GL Import Hook extension package to enable using a single FAH application and source across multiple GL sources.
Operational governance emphasized iterative agile delivery with Scrum Masters, Product Owners and project teams gathering and documenting requirements, and working directly with business users to map detailed accounting requirements. The project included ongoing rule maintenance to update FAH rules when requirements changed, root cause analysis and remediation of FAH errors, and support for testing teams to process test files and promote configuration and code changes through the test cycle. Oracle Financials Accounting Hub remains the central ERP Financial accounting orchestration layer supporting reconciliation, reporting and drill-down via extracts from Oracle XLA and GL into the enterprise data warehouse feeding OBIEE reporting as part of the firms reporting stack.

In 2019, Cigna Healthcare implemented Workday Absence Management, deploying an Absence and Leave Management application to formalize absence workflows. This implementation built on earlier feasibility studies, system prototyping and functional specifications completed by a Workday consultant during February 2017 to March 2018 in Framingham, CT.
The deployment configured Workday Absence Management alongside Core HCM, Time Tracking, Payroll, Benefits, Compensation and Reporting modules. Implementation tasks included configuring Time and Labor pages, defining absence workflows tied to payroll approval paths, and assembling the building blocks of Workforce Time and Attendance, while provisioning web server and app server components for the Workday environment.
Integrations were implemented through extraction from PeopleSoft HRMS 8.9, transforming 22,000 worker records into Workday iLoad/EIB format and developing integrations to support HCM, Payroll and Time Tracking data flows. Operational coverage focused on HR, payroll, talent management and benefits functions, with functional and technical interfaces to reporting and security services.
Governance followed a full cycle implementation model, including prototype testing, configuration, enhancements, and day-to-day functional and technical support for HCM, Security, Compensation and Reporting. The program coordinated across core HR and talent management activities and across offshore teams to manage tasks, issues and risks, supporting ongoing absence and time-related workflows.

Cigna Healthcare used Progress Corticon for Business Process Management to centralize decision logic for claims intake and to operationalize routing and eligibility checks across U.S. claims operations. The initiative targeted the claims intake workflow within claims processing to standardize decision criteria and reduce manual routing.
Progress Corticon was configured as a centralized decisioning engine, encapsulating business rules used for routing, eligibility determination, and intake validation. The implementation emphasized rule authoring, testing and runtime execution separation to enable iterative updates to decision logic without extensive application code changes. Automated decision services were invoked at the EDI 837 intake point to standardize processing across intake channels.
The deployment integrated into the claims intake pipeline for EDI 837 messaging and was scoped to U.S. operations, consolidating rules across intake touchpoints. Operational coverage included claims intake teams and downstream claims processing workflows, producing consistent decision outputs at the moment of data ingestion.
Governance practices established a central rules repository and lifecycle controls to manage rule changes and rollout across sites. According to the vendor case study, centralizing rules with Progress Corticon increased accuracy and timeliness and scaled intake capacity about 2.5x, outcomes explicitly reported by the vendor.
