In 2014, Citi Canada implemented PFS-PAXUS for Portfolio and Investment Management to centralize transfer agency, tax reporting, and compliance workflows within its Mississauga, ON operations. The deployment targeted operational support for Tax and Anti Money Laundering functions, explicitly aligning the PFS-PAXUS application with transfer agency and compliance workstreams used by Citi Canada staff in Canada.
PFS-PAXUS was configured to support transfer agency processing, tax compliance reporting, and KYC monitoring workflows, reflecting common Portfolio and Investment Management functional modules such as account servicing, transaction reconciliation, and regulatory reporting. Configuration work emphasized data extraction and analysis capabilities, with analysts pulling data from spreadsheets and platform feeds to produce compliance reports and to monitor high profile hedge fund accounts for FATCA, CDOT, CRS, AML and OFAC obligations.
The implementation interacted operationally with other transfer agency platforms referenced by staff, notably SHARP and TAP, and ingested spreadsheet-based datasets for day to day processing. PFS-PAXUS workflows were used alongside sanctioned-list screening processes including OFAC and World Check screening, and supported deeper KYC document review and investigative casework for high risk accounts.
Governance and process changes accompanied the rollout, with internal ownership of procedure streamlining for sanctioned-list screening and the creation of spreadsheet automation such as vlookup functions to accelerate handling. Those process changes are documented by staff outcomes, including a reported 40% increase in screening handling speeds from automation efforts and a due diligence project led from the PFS-PAXUS supported processes that produced a documented 3 Million dollar benefit to the business, recognition from senior management, and use of the Galaxy of Thanks acknowledgment.
