MXC Foundation Legacy MXC Moonchain Blockchain Platform Blockchain n/a 2018 2019
In 2018 Citiesense began a pilot deployment of MXC Moonchain, a Blockchain Platform, working with MXC Foundation and MatchX to validate the MXProtocol LPWAN based smart city standard in New York City. The pilot targeted use cases including parking, waste management, street level sensors and urban asset monitoring, with deployments ramping in 2019 across NYC business districts. The implementation architecture linked LPWAN gateways and sensor nodes into the MXC Moonchain ledger to register device identities and immutably timestamp telemetry, leveraging core Blockchain Platform capabilities for secure IoT data integrity and access control. Functional capabilities implemented included device onboarding, immutable telemetry recording, and data access governance consistent with blockchain driven IoT workflows. Configuration emphasized lightweight edge integration for sensor telemetry aggregation and ledger anchoring to preserve auditability of municipal sensor streams. Integrations focused on LPWAN gateway and sensor integration with the MXProtocol stack, and operational coverage concentrated on municipal departments responsible for parking, waste and urban asset operations across targeted business districts. Governance and rollout followed a pilot then ramp cadence starting in 2018 with broader rollouts in 2019, introducing blockchain based device identity and audit workflows and shifting operational processes toward centralized sensor data capture. The engagement was positioned to improve municipal data capture and operational efficiency as part of the Citiesense MXC Moonchain deployment.
