Docebo Legacy Docebo LMS Learning and Development HCM n/a 2018 2018
In 2018, City of Kingston implemented Docebo LMS in the Learning and Development category. The engagement required migrating up to 300 courses and existing course data including completions and outstanding assignments for over 2,000 end users, following an RFP that specified detailed technical requirements for a more engaging platform. The implementation targeted a distributed municipal workforce spanning bus operators, fire personnel, long-term care workers, recreation staff and external agencies. Docebo LMS was configured using an initial trial and a live test environment that allowed the team to begin development and prepare migration files and tools prior to full rollout, which accelerated deployment. The implementation leveraged Docebo’s Extended Exterprise App to provision multiple custom domains with distinct branding for internal and external audiences, and configured custom widgets to centralize videos, classroom sessions, announcements and elective catalogs. Administrative governance was structured using Superadmins with full platform control and Power Users with scoped permissions for users, courses, catalogs and locations, and certifications and license modules were set to automate refresher cycles and recurring accreditation workflows. Operational integrations included single sign-on to align access with network credentials and built-in platform live chat for vendor support and incident resolution. The platform was configured for mobile responsive access to support phones and tablets, and enrollment rules were tied to role, department, union and employee status to automate assignment of learning plans. Docebo LMS served both internal municipal departments and external agencies that require bylaw mandated training through segregated front-ends. Governance changes included delegation of monitoring and notification responsibilities to Power Users and supervisors, enabling real-time visibility into training metrics and automated reminders. The City of Kingston reported a surge in course completion rates, a reduction in compliance issues due to automated refresher cycles, a positive user reception across leadership to frontline staff, and expansion of the learning team to focus on content curation and platform development.
