In 2004, Country Home Bakers implemented Koerber HighJump Supply Chain Advantage to address end to end warehouse and distribution control across its Pennsauken and Bellmawr, N.J. facilities. The deployment used Koerber HighJump Supply Chain Advantage as the core Supply Chain Management application to coordinate manufacturing, fulfillment and distribution flows for the eastern half of the United States.
Implementation focused on system-directed operator activities and automation of core warehouse processes, including receiving and put-away workflows. The solution provided detailed inventory control capabilities typical of Supply Chain Management suites, namely lot and batch tracking, expiration date management, quality assurance hold and release controls, and intelligent inventory allocation rules to route product to customers and channels based on inventory attributes.
Operational capabilities implemented included kitting to assemble combined ready to sell units and creation of advance shipping notices to support outbound logistics. The implementation emphasized product tracking from production through truck loading, aligning warehouse execution with loading operations and preparing for future retailer radio frequency identification requirements as part of the system architecture.
Governance changes aligned operational workflows to system-directed tasks, embedding QA hold and release decision points and allocation logic into warehouse procedures. In a cited deployment of Supply Chain Advantage, J&J Snack Foods reported improvements in productivity, inventory accuracy and loading accuracy following implementation, which illustrates the practical outcomes organizations aim to realize when applying Koerber HighJump Supply Chain Advantage in Supply Chain Management scenarios.
