In 2015, the Department of Premier and Cabinet NSW implemented Objective ECM as an Enterprise Content Management application to digitise ministerial briefs and correspondence. The deployment focused on converting paper workflows into digital approval processes, bringing ministerial documentation and correspondence under a centralized content platform used across the department.
The implementation emphasized workflow and adaptive case management capabilities within Objective ECM, configuring automated routing for ministerial briefs, version control for official correspondence, and metadata driven document classification. Standard Enterprise Content Management capabilities such as document capture, records retention controls, and role based access were applied to support ministerial approvals and auditability.
Objective ECM was used to operationalize ministerial services and correspondence workflows across the Department of Premier and Cabinet NSW, aligning case management with existing approval authorities and document custody rules. The project scope encompassed correspondence handling, approvals orchestration, and onsite records reduction, with the system functioning as the authoritative content store for ministerial material.
Governance changes accompanied the rollout, with structured approval workflows and case management processes instituted to accelerate signoff cycles and reduce manual handoffs. The Department reported faster approvals and significant cost reductions, including reducing some approval times from 10 days to 2, printing volumes down approximately 80 percent, and onsite storage reduced approximately 65 percent following Objective ECM adoption.
