SAP SAP ERP ECC 6.0 SAP S/4 HANA ERP Financial ERP n/a 2023 2023
In 2023 Devon Energy migrated its core financial systems to SAP S/4 HANA, moving from SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as part of a company-wide ERP Financial initiative. The engagement was led by an experienced SAP S/4 migration program manager who directed project planning, execution, stakeholder management, and vendor coordination to achieve a successful migration outcome. The SAP S/4 HANA implementation focused on core ERP Financial capabilities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset accounting, controlling, and financial close and reporting functionality. Configuration work emphasized streamlined master data models and ledger simplification consistent with SAP S/4 HANA finance design patterns to support month end close and statutory reporting workflows. Operational coverage spanned finance and accounting functions and extended to treasury and procurement processes that interact with financial ledgers, reflecting cross-functional impact across Devon Energy’s U.S. operations. Cross-functional teams from finance, IT, and business operations were assembled to align chart of accounts, financial master data, and process handoffs during cutover. Governance followed the SAP Activate methodology, with explicit risk management and change management practices mentioned in program leadership notes, and a staged delivery approach to manage scope and stakeholder readiness. Program documentation emphasizes vendor management, stakeholder communications, and controls to ensure delivery within defined scope, budget, and timeline.

In 2014 Devon Energy implemented SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central as its Core HR solution. The deployment was executed through the company HRIS organization and targeted centralized management of employee profiles, talent records, and core HR data for the company. The implementation encompassed SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central together with SuccessFactors BizX capabilities, specifically employee profile, goals, performance, succession, learning management, and recruiting modules. Configuration work included creation of yearly goals and performance templates, development of functional requirement specifications, and design and control of security permissions. During the rollout HRIS continued to support an existing applicant tracking system residing in Taleo while deploying SuccessFactors recruiting and the learning management modules. Operational coverage focused on HR, recruiting, learning, and performance management functional teams. Governance and program management were led by HRIS staff who acted as business analysts and project lead, gathering and documenting requirements and working closely with HRIT. The team controlled all security permissions, facilitated system regression testing, resolved EHS and HR learning content issues, provided data reports, and assisted end users with goal related issues not resolved by the HRConnect human resources call center.

Seeq Corporation Legacy Seeq Workbench Asset Performance Management ERP Services and Operations n/a 2018 2018
In 2018, Devon Energy deployed Seeq Workbench for Asset Performance Management to support engineering and operations analytics across its oil and gas production environment. The implementation targeted process and production signal analytics, positioning Seeq Workbench as the authoring environment for time series exploration and problem diagnosis. Seeq Workbench was configured alongside Seeq Organizer to provide authored analytics and published views, using scorecard features and calculated tables to present results to non-analytics users. The deployment leveraged Seeq R21 capabilities such as frequency analysis often referred to as FFT, scalability enhancements for larger deployments, and user experience improvements to streamline diagnostic, descriptive, and predictive analytics workflows. Integrations were explicitly centered on the OSIsoft PI System, with Seeq connecting to OSIsoft Asset Framework, Event Frames, Notifications, and OSIsoft Cloud Services to ingest plant and telemetry time series. Devon Energy personnel participated in cross-vendor sessions demonstrating self-directed analytics and reporting with OSIsoft Cloud Services, indicating operational integration between Seeq Workbench and real-time data infrastructure. Governance and operational adoption emphasized publishing analytics-based views to broader employee groups, enabling self-directed analytics for engineering and operations staff and shifting analytic ownership toward domain users. The implementation narrative highlights faster time to insight through Seeq Workbench’s publishing and analytics capabilities, and an architecture oriented to scale within Asset Performance Management environments.
