| SAP | Legacy | SAP S/4 HANA | ERP Financial | ERP Financial Management | n/a | 2021 | 2021 |
In 2021, DLA Piper implemented SAP S/4 HANA as its ERP Financial system. The SAP S/4 HANA deployment formed the finance pillar of a global Transformation Programme that also included SuccessFactors for HR, FIORI, Enable Now, and a ServiceNow implementation, aligned to a new Service Delivery Model across the international business.
The SAP S/4 HANA implementation focused on core ERP Financial capabilities, delivering centralized financial accounting and consolidated reporting functionality with FIORI user experience and Enable Now in-app guidance. Configuration work centered on standard financial workflows and reporting orchestration typical of ERP Financial systems, while design choices emphasized a unified finance application and role-based FIORI interfaces for finance users.
Integrations were coordinated across the programme rather than listed as isolated point projects, with SAP S/4 HANA aligned alongside SuccessFactors and ServiceNow components to support cross-functional finance to HR and service delivery processes. Third-party system integrators and suppliers were managed as part of the delivery plan, including IBM, Fulcrum GT, Accenture, Engage ESM, and DLA I.T., which were onboarded to common planning and reporting standards.
Governance was established through a Transformation Programme Delivery master plan that served as the single source of truth for all sub-programme activity, contractual deliverables, and dependencies. The programme instituted standardized plan reporting, inter-programme dependency forums, and SteerCo reporting, with weekly dashboards, a plan on a page artifact, and progress measures surfaced from MS Project and bespoke macros to provide senior stakeholder line of sight.
Operational outcomes explicitly included reduced manual intervention through automated dashboard and plan reporting, and improved visibility into critical dependency timelines and risks via the master plan. The implementation narrative emphasizes SAP S/4 HANA, ERP Financial, and a governance-led rollout model coordinated across international finance and programme stakeholders.

| Mercer | Legacy | Mercer Darwin Benefits (formerly Thomsons Online Benefits) | Benefits Administration | HCM | n/a | 2017 | 2017 |
In 2017 DLA Piper implemented Mercer Darwin Benefits (formerly Thomsons Online Benefits) to centralize Benefits Administration within its UK HR and Compensation and Benefits function. The deployment focused on provisioning a flexible benefits portal to manage employee elections and to support the firm level oversight of pension and international benefit schemes.
Mercer Darwin Benefits was configured to serve as the firm portal for flexible benefits, benefits enrollment workflows, and pension administration coordination, with specific attention to the occupational defined contribution scheme governance responsibilities held by the HR benefits team. Configuration work included benefits catalog setup, enrollment lifecycle processes, and role based access for HR advisors and partners, aligned to the responsibilities of the Head of Compensation and Benefits.
Operational scope covered DLA Piper UK LLP benefits administration, partner benefits servicing, and support for the high earner population, with the Senior HR Benefits Advisor acting as the primary implementation contact and secretary to the occupational DC scheme trustee. Governance and process workstreams ran alongside the technical rollout, focusing on streamlining benefits processes, ensuring pensions compliance, and formalizing advisor relationship management during the May 2017 to April 2018 interim implementation period.

| Thomson Reuters Elite | Legacy | Thomson Reuters Elite Enterprise | Legal Practice Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2020 | 2020 |
In 2020, DLA Piper implemented Thomson Reuters Elite Enterprise for Legal Practice Management. The deployment targeted the firm’s UK operations and aimed to standardize practice management and billing workflows across core practice groups, positioning Thomson Reuters Elite Enterprise as the centralized platform for matter and financial administration.
Configuration work centered on matter lifecycle orchestration, time capture and billing rules, trust and client accounting controls, and consolidated financial and operational reporting, reflecting common Legal Practice Management functional workflows. The implementation emphasized workflow automation for matter intake, conflicts checking, time entry and fee approval, and standardized invoice presentation to align legal operations and finance processes.
Operational governance established centralized administration for matter templates, billing rule sets and user permissioning, with formal change control for configuration updates and role based access management. Public reporting on the program was corrected on 2 March to remove an erroneous reference to Thomson Reuters Elite 3E, confirming that DLA Piper remained on Thomson Reuters Elite Enterprise.
