EPCOR Technographics, Software Purchases, AI and Digital Transformation Initiatives
Discover the latest software purchases and digital transformation initiatives being undertaken by EPCOR and its business and technology executives. Each quarter our research team identifies on-prem and cloud applications that are being used by the 3600 EPCOR employees from the public (Press Releases, Customer References, Testimonials, Case Studies and Success Stories) and proprietary sources.
During our research, we have identified that EPCOR has purchased the following applications: Oracle E-Business Suite for ERP Financial in 2015, AssetWise Asset Reliability for Asset Performance Management in 2019, Oracle OBIEE for Analytics and BI in 2015 and the related IT decision-makers and key stakeholders.
Our database provides customer insight and contextual information on which enterprise applications and software systems EPCOR is running and its propensity to invest more and deepen its relationship with Oracle , Bentley Systems , DocuSign or identify new suppliers as part of their overall Digital and IT transformation projects to stay competitive, fend off threats from disruptive forces, or comply with internal mandates to improve overall enterprise efficiency.
We have been analyzing EPCOR revenues, which have grown to $1.64 billion in 2024, plus its IT budget and roadmap, cloud software purchases, aggregating massive amounts of data points that form the basis of our forecast assumptions for EPCOR intention to invest in emerging technologies such as AI, Machine Learning, IoT, Blockchain, Autonomous Database or in cloud-based ERP, HCM, CRM, EPM, Procurement or Treasury applications.

In 2015, EPCOR implemented Oracle E-Business Suite to establish a centralized ERP Financial platform supporting corporate accounting and treasury operations. The initial deployment positioned Oracle E-Business Suite as the primary ERP Financial application for General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, fixed assets and cash management workflows consistent with utility financial control requirements.
Platform and configuration work included Oracle E-Business Suite upgrades and ongoing maintenance, with documented upgrade activity from 11i to 12.1.3 and later engagement on the 12.1.3 to 12.2.9 upgrade project. Database administration practices supported Oracle E-Business Suite through administration of Oracle databases 11g, 12c, 18c and 19c on AIX and Linux, RMAN and other backup strategies, SQL plan management and SQL profile tuning, plus automation of database monitoring jobs.
The implementation integrated Oracle Cloud integration capabilities and supported Oracle Mobile application setup using Oracle Cloud integration, reflecting a hybrid on-premise and cloud operational model. Operational coverage extended across a large UNIX server estate of 100+ servers, with HADR and Oracle TDE implementations for high availability and encryption, DR failover and switchover procedures, and routine CPU and PSU patching using Oracle ADOP in 12.2 environments.
Governance and runbook activities were DBA led, focusing on 24x7 uptime, daily monitoring of storage and resource usage, AWR, ASH and ADDM analysis, 10046 tracing for performance troubleshooting, and processes for database recoveries and corruption remediation. Change control encompassed patching cadence, upgrade project governance and scripted monitoring to sustain operational continuity for EPCORs ERP Financial application stack.

In 2019, EPCOR extended its enterprise asset management footprint by embedding AssetWise Asset Reliability as an Asset Performance Management application for its power distribution business. The initiative built on more than a decade of asset records already housed in AssetWise, and the utility extended the data application to develop statistical based failure curves and a formal risk based asset management program.
The implementation configured AssetWise Asset Reliability to host statistical failure models and an asset health index used to score overall asset condition, creating a single score to represent likelihood of failure. EPCOR integrated SCADA data with AssetWise to ingest near real time electrical loading information, enriching condition and loading datasets used by the failure curves and health scoring modules.
Operationally the rollout focused on asset management and operations teams responsible for power distribution, and the risk based asset management program reoriented inspection and replacement workflows to prioritize at risk assets identified by the AssetWise asset health index. The project produced structured likelihood of failure outputs and provided valuable information for asset budgeting, linking condition based scoring to capital and maintenance planning.

| Oracle | Legacy | Oracle OBIEE | Analytics and BI | Analytics and BI | n/a | 2015 | 2015 |
In 2015, EPCOR implemented Oracle OBIEE as its primary business intelligence application, positioning Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition within its Analytics and BI stack to support ERP reporting and operational analytics. EPCOR uses Oracle OBIEE in conjunction with its Oracle eBusiness Suite, creating a coherent vendor-aligned BI footprint that centralizes reporting for multiple business units across the utility organization.
The implementation leverages Oracle Business Intelligence Applications, using pre-built Data Marts and pre-packaged Extract Transform Load toolsets to populate analytical schemas and drive OBIEE reports and dashboards. EPCOR also operates an Oracle Discover reporting tool to deliver ERP based reports directly from the ERP system to business units, so core functional capabilities include data mart population, ETL orchestration, and ERP driven operational reporting.
Architecturally, the deployment is integrated with Oracle eBusiness Suite through the OBIA export transform load pipelines that feed the OBIEE reporting layer, ensuring data lineage from ERP transactions into analytic Data Marts and into OBIEE presentation artifacts. Operational coverage explicitly includes multiple business units within EPCOR, with the BI environment serving enterprise ERP reporting needs and consolidated analytics workflows.
Governance considerations are prominent because most of these toolsets are already, or are approaching, out of support status from Oracle, requiring lifecycle management and upgrade planning. The out of support timing creates a maintenance and support risk for the EPCOR Analytics and BI environment and necessitates formal upgrade and version governance to maintain vendor support and security posture.
