In 2017, Espresso House implemented Harmony WinPOS from Future Business Systems as its Point Of Sale application to standardize in-store transactions across its rapidly growing Nordic and German coffee shop network. The deployment covered a multi-country footprint with 460 coffee shops operating in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark and Germany, including recent expansion into Finland where 22 sites were opened and further growth planned for 2018.
Harmony WinPOS was configured to support core hospitality point of sale workflows, including touchscreen order capture at the terminal, payment handling, and direct order routing to a preparation display. The implementation leverages Winpos Hospitality functionality within the Harmony WinPOS environment so that orders can be sent directly from the POS terminal to a display in the preparation area, enabling baristas to begin preparation even before the payment transaction is finished.
The POS system is deployed against a single, centrally hosted database shared across all countries, enabling central data entry and consistent master data across sites. Integrations explicitly include the chain s mobile app and the business intelligence system, creating a connected operational layer between in-store sales, digital ordering channels, and analytics.
Operational governance emphasizes centralized configuration and continuous product development, the system being described as a vital part of Espresso House s full scale business system and under constant development to align with business and technology changes.
