Integrations were a core part of the program, the ERP was integrated with EDI and shipping software including FedEx, UPC, and Endicia to eliminate double entry and reduce errors, increasing shipping throughput by 30 percent. Multiple e-commerce sites were transitioned from a co-located facility to Amazon EC2 and later consolidated onto a new direct to consumer platform that supported the doubling of DTC revenue. Email and productivity were moved from an on-premises Exchange server to Microsoft Office 365 to reduce staffing requirements. Operational execution combined company-wide coordination and external resources, the program team generated the RFP, coordinated solution selection, solicited and gained board approval, and drove the implementation while coordinating staff across all departments with outside contractors and third party ISVs. Monthly senior leadership technology review meetings were directed to ensure projects aligned with strategic activity, and the deployment was launched under budget with the final phase completed within six months. Infrastructure changes included deployment of VMware vSphere with consolidation of 18 servers onto two hosts, a later migration of that environment to Hyper-V and cloud converged infrastructure, and a transition from tape to disk based backup followed by cloud based backup on Microsoft Azure. Documented operational outcomes include a record monthly shipments performance in the first month after Advanced Warehousing deployment, elimination of manual Accounts Receivable processing time, a 30 percent increase in shipping throughput, server consolidation from 18 to two, and an on-budget delivery with final phase completion within six months.
