In 2019 Farys implemented SAP S/4 HANA as its ERP Financial backbone to support utility billing, invoicing and financial processes across its Antwerp and Ghent water operations in Belgium. The SAP S/4 HANA deployment ran in parallel with SAP ISU billing and device management and SAP CRM workstreams to align customer management and meter device workflows with financial postings.
The implementation included SAP ISU billing configuration, device management capabilities and CRM integration, with the project scope described as SAP ISU maintenance and S4 Hana utilities upgrade. Functional activities centered on billing implementation and maintenance, addressing new requirements for billing, device management and CRM integration, while the engagement included CVI integration and customization to harmonize customer and vendor master data into the S/4 HANA utilities model.
Integrations were explicit, with CVI integration and customization bridging SAP CRM and S/4 HANA utilities, and device management interfaces tied into ISU billing processes to ensure meter and device events feed billing cycles. Capgemini Belgium served as the system integrator on the program, coordinating technical adjustments and solution alignment across the SAP ISU, SAP CRM and SAP S/4 HANA utilities components.
Governance and delivery emphasized functional consultant ownership of end to end billing implementation and ongoing maintenance, with the client setting up the system environment to support the S4 Hana utilities upgrade. Operational responsibilities focused on sustaining billing, device management and CRM integration workflows, and on configuring CVI mappings and customizations to meet utility specific master data and billing requirements.

In 2022, Farys implemented SAP Analytics Cloud as part of a broader Analytics and BI strategy that accompanied its cloud-based SAP S/4HANA deployment and the creation of a sector-wide smart water platform. The SAP Analytics Cloud implementation is positioned on SAP Business Technology Platform alongside SAP Datasphere and SAP HANA Cloud to deliver self-service analytics and an authoritative business data fabric for finance, customer service, operations, and asset management.
The deployment leverages SAP Analytics Cloud for visualization and self-service reporting, connected to SAP Datasphere for governed data models and to SAP HANA Cloud for high-performance analytical processing. The smart water platform uses an event-driven architecture with advanced event mesh to stream over two million smart meter readings per day, enabling near-real-time consumption analytics that feed billing in SAP S/4HANA Utilities and trigger operational alarms and workflows.
Integration scope includes SAP Integration Suite, SAP Cloud for Energy, SAP Build and SAP Fiori, with Capgemini leading implementation activities in close partnership with SAP. The customer self-service portal is integrated with back-end financial and customer data, and geographic information system data is linked to SAP S/4HANA for mobile-enabled field service use cases, while the platform remains meter independent and supports external data providers and systems.
Governance and continuous innovation are formalized through a long-term strategy to extend the platform, with explicit plans to add SAP Asset Performance Management and AI and machine learning use cases for clustering, consumption forecasting, and predictive maintenance. Reported outcomes from the integrated stack include real-time reporting that replaces overnight runs, faster sales calculations, improved warehouse visibility, preventive asset maintenance, reduced contact center workload via the customer portal, more accurate billing, near-real-time customer consumption insight, and earlier detection of leaks and bursts.

| Microsoft | Legacy | Microsoft 365 | Collaboration | Collaboration | n/a | 2017 | 2017 |
In 2017, Farys implemented Microsoft 365 as its enterprise collaboration platform. The Microsoft 365 deployment is categorized under Collaboration and serves as the primary environment for internal communication and document management across the organization.
The Microsoft 365 implementation centers on standard Collaboration capabilities such as hosted email, cloud Office applications, SharePoint Online for intranet and document libraries, Microsoft Teams for real-time collaboration, and OneDrive for Business for personal file sync. Configuration reflects a cloud-first tenant model with browser and client access to productivity apps, aligning Microsoft 365 with knowledge worker workflows and shared content governance.
The presence of Microsoft 365 assets on the Farys website indicates use of Microsoft 365 services in web-exposed collaboration scenarios and confirms an enterprise tenant footprint linked to the corporate web estate. Operational coverage spans the corporate environment of the Belgium-based utility and is positioned to support cross-functional collaboration for administrative, operational, and customer-facing teams.
Governance emphasis is on centralized tenant administration, user provisioning and access control, and policy-driven document lifecycle management typical for Collaboration platforms. Microsoft 365 is therefore embedded at Farys for collaboration use, providing a unified application layer for productivity, communication, and content management.
