Operational governance was anchored by a permanent Digital Innovation Center of Excellence called DICE, with a hub at FedEx headquarters and regional centers in Asia and Europe, guiding a phased rollout that began in Europe, then moved to Asia and North America. The program standardized more than 220 operations using over 40 Oracle Cloud applications, deployed more than 25 digital assistants, and put Oracle Analytics Cloud into the hands of more than 3,000 employees for data driven decision making. FedEx shifted to virtual deployment models for Oracle Cloud ERP and related applications, standing up nine new local instances during the COVID-19 crisis without schedule interruptions, and reducing manual effort while increasing code deployment velocity. The combined Oracle Cloud ERP and platform implementation enabled faster operational responsiveness, with FedEx reporting a 2X faster ability to respond to business changes and a 2X faster speed to market.

Integrations were implemented with enterprise HR systems, explicitly using Person Import Logic and Workforce Integration Manager to surface HR master data from PeopleSoft where the technical refresh role governed HR systems and strategy. Ownership included upgrade activities from version 6.2 on premise to 8.0.12 cloud, aligning the Absence and Leave Management application with a cloud operational model. Governance and rollout followed a staged implementation, with numerous Kronos training sessions and system demos led by the configuration lead and SME, and formal change control around upgrades and enhancements documented via impact analysis. The program positioned HRIS ownership for Benefits and Employee Relations, embedding attestation, security, timekeeping, and scheduling workflows into FedEx operational processes.

The AppWorx deployment supported ongoing automation initiatives that had already realized manual effort reductions in regulatory reporting processes, while providing auditability and centralized operational control for regulatory and customs brokerage functions.
